The only difference Green's injury makes is in terms of numbers. He'll end up playing down the league somewhere or in the championship in years to come. He has never fulfilled his potential. Bowden still has time to make something of himself especially if he has some props to play with , time will tell. Carvell I'm sure most would see as good for a year but if asked a year ago would not really have seen him as a target. Whilst Mason is a more workmanlike prop than many give him credit for , again , there's not many that would admit to having him as an aspirational target during the last couple of years or so. If it was spin that said we're OK in the prop department a few short months ago then it looks silly now. If the coach believed it and now has changed his mind the you have to wonder about his and his staff's judgement. We are once again casting about it seems for players on the eve of the season because we've known for a while or have just woken up to the fact that we lack quality in a number of key areas. The fact that there is little quality about and no guarantees of even getting what's available won't help the confidence or perhaps commitment of those players we'd replace if we could but may have to soldier on with.

wish we could have sorted our recruitment out earlier especially with the need to get off to a good start with a surfeit of home games coming up

yeah i do too. think theres a bit of panic after such a poor pre season.

would like to see some new signings but i think losing Miller would be a loss. it may have an affect on the younger players. especially rankin who seemed to be attracted to Hull because of miller

The Mail says today that Gale has been offered a deal and he'll decide within the next 24 hours but looks (according to James Smailes) "certain" to join Hull.

Carvell's move should also be completed soon.

I honestly do not think we will be offloading Miller this season. As for Gale I'm not overly bothered about him, would rather look at Sammut out of the two.
Don't know the Mason rumour has come from, but when he was at Huddersfield I was a big fan. Mainly due to his aggressiveness and ability to wind the opposition up. Saying that, I'd only take him for a season I think.

Mason is a bit more understandable if Green is out for a few weeks.

Can't believe people are writing Bowden and Green off already, one of the few highlights of pre season has been how well Bowden as gone, he has never been given a good run at the club and is only young for a prop to develop,

Green was excellent in patchs last year, certainly the first few games and IMO unfairly dropped a couple of times in favour of more senior players.

I agree people shouldn't write either of just yet, and to say Bowden looks as though he doesn't want to be here Seb is laughable. Against Fev he was the only first teamer from the pack who looked interested and was our best forward. I believe Green has a better chance of making it, but I'm also a fan of Bowden. Remember props don't hit their peak until there late 20s and there both under 24.
If anyone's going to moan about one of our props it's Watts. Done nothing since his first half a season here. Doesn't run his weight even after bulking back up and seems to have forgotten how to offload.

Is it fair to think that bringing in Gale automatically means the exit of Miller?

I'd think so, not sure it the correct decision IMO, I'd rather keep Miller and wait to see if a better player become available.

If Miller and Mc go, it will have us down to 5 overseas players, which must be one of the lowest in the league, which is good for the club.
