[quote="Wellsy13":1juz9zgo]To us REAL fans, there's no better feeling than winning competitions. Getting to a final is next. Then a top 6 finish or semi-final appearance. Then I suppose the derby counts as the most important league fixture.
Us real fans don't look over our shoulder at our neighbours and do whatever we can to get one over on them. We look at the bigger picture. And this is the reason why Rovers are and will forever be considered a small club. Because their fans and board would rather get one over on Hull FC above anything else.

If thats the direction the sport is taking i can see spectator numbers dropping over the coming years to stay at home and watch paint dry.... and save £20 per game too.'"
Drama queen . The game has never had 4 pivots, all that's changed is the FB being the pivot instead of LF.

You say that now Dave but it's been like it in Oz for a while, there is very few "very" one sided games over there and my interest in the NRL/SOO is stronger than ever.

If you look at the shift though.
Old days
1. Running attacking exciting full bacl
6 & 7 pivots
8 & 10 Workhorse props
13. Pivot
Now
1. Pivot
6 & 7 Pivots
8&10&13 workhorse props.
Tell me how the balance as changed? My view is that we now have one less exciting back and 1 more plodding forward. That cant be a good move can it?

I don't think our problem is getting up to the line, it is just that we seem clueless when we get there. It was the same last season even with a poorer pack.
If we are weak in the pivots, then why not have an extra pivot at 13?
At least it makes us less predictable to defend against.'"
Said this a few times, people blamed our pack last year for the majority of our problems, yet we have a far better pack this time around and the problems are the same.

But they have super creative halves to make it work. They have 8 or 9 international quality 7s for example.
We dont have that skill in our game which makes it dire to watch certain teams in SL, including ours.

Yes, thats why we kept Motu to move towards the new way of playing.
Thats why Rovers look better with Murrell at 13 as a pivot when Briscoe is at 1.

So, should we be reducing the quota to stop these people coming over and passing on there knowledge? Is it to the detriment of our own game?

Tansey is a pivot for me rather than a running exciting full back. (putting his run at Bradford to one side)
He's hardly a Kemble, Hampson, Radlinksi type of full back.

Its not about the quota for me, it's about youth investment from a school age. I read somewhere that Oz invests 25x more money into schooling for rugby league than we do hear to teach their kids the basics from a young age.
Because of that investment at a young age every single age group is incredibly competetive, something we lack in this country to really push development.
It's ok giving Joe Bloggs a £10,000 scholarship but how will he develop when playing against kids that aren't on a scholarship.
We have the full structure wrong imo.
