He's looked by far and away the best player for them in the games I have seen. When we beat them at there place he was the best half back on the park and single handidly kept them in the game. He's a quality player and anybody who thinks differently doesn't have a clue imo.

| Quote: Goochie "That's quite a good point. As it stands, we only have Seymour and Ellis signed up who will be playing in the halves, and there are big rumours about Ellis, with no kids (AFAIK) close to being ready to play in the halves next year.
It's OK signing a Rangi Chase to play 6, but without a half decent third choice half at the club we could be looking at a 09/10 situation, playing with only 1 halfback.'"
I guarantee! Absolute Gurantee Ellis will not be playing in the halves next season if you are relating to Jamie that is. Castleford. 2 year deal. Horse's mouth.

never said he isn't a quality player, he just doesn't strike me as a team player, he's a maverick "off the cuff" player.

| Quote: steve_norton "I wish people would forget about Rangi Chase, I would rather 250k or whatever is put to better use elsewhere if it exists.
We should be looking for the next Rangi Chase, there seem to be a string of young players like Dobson, Chase, Tommy Leulaui etc who don't fit to the NRL game but do ours. There must be a more players like that out there. Gentle and McRae with their experience coaching in Aus and contacts are better placed to find them.
Does anyone know if we have any official scouting presence in Oz ?'"
Problem is, finding a player who fits the criteria (NRL Appearances)to get a work permit to work in the UK.
We tried to sign a young Canberra half Mick Picker, last season but his work permit was rejected.
"Players
Work permits will only be issued for players to play for clubs in the super league or national Leagues 1, 2 and 3.
Initial applications
Players coming from the senior nations, which are Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea must have played in either:
•50% of full internationals since 1 July 2007; or
•75% of games over the two complete seasons prior to the date of the work permit application in the Australian National Rugby League (NRL) 1st Grade, the super league or a combination of the two.
Players coming from outside the senior nations must have played in:
•75% of games over the last two complete seasons in the NRL 1st Grade, the super league or a combination of the two.

That's because he had a Drink driving conviction though not because of appearance criteria (according to Agar). With the new system in place we would know before applying if the player would get a work permit. Granted not all players may get one but there are ways around, Wigan signing Gelling for instance.

| Come on Standee, still waiting for you to tell us who else is making allegations about Bomber's role at the club and his relationship with Peter Gentle.

The two aren't linked, unless you're suggesting that Pearson would take any transfer fee out of the wage budget. In many ways, using that much of the cap on one player is more of a risk/waste than a transfer fee, which doesn't affect the salary cap.
Most players have done relatively little for Cas this year, they've been too far off the pace as a whole for payers to shine. Finch also did relatively little for Wigan for most of last year, players go through bad patches at times for various reasons. And interestingly, for someone who hasn't done much Chase still leads SL in try assists despite being in a bottom 3 side. I'm not saying he's world class, but he's about as good as you can currently get in SL.

I'd rather use it on Benji, but we don't all get what we want do we? By all accounts we've made a good offer for Finch. If that doesn't come off, do we just sit back or do we go for Chase?
He's a brilliant player, I honestly don't see why people wouldn't want him at the club.

I don't doubt you, it's just not confirmed yet so technically he's still under contract at FC; publicly at least.

However all these supposed slaggings that ogre and family have done are also rumours so i guess its easy to jump on posters fantasy posts and all of a sudden they become real , Personally like you said here yourself i think Bomber was only planned for 2 years or so max to give time for AP to get up to speed with RL in general however his signings so far have been prettttty good !!!
AND anyone whom saw them together at manchester would refute any signs of a rift as they were clearly very comfortable in each others company and looked like old pals to me!!
Some posters just dont like him simple as that !
