| Quote: "Interesting as I haven't seen one post that suggests Phelps is Brilliant.
Phelps didn't have a deal anywhere so i doubt that he will be on that hight a wage, he will be on Ok money.
He didnt really have a choice due to know one signing him and his injuries, this is better than not working at all and allows himself to be put into the shop window for 2012 or earn another contract at Hull.'"
I would genuinely imagine Phelps will be on Peanuts. Apparently he was on a distinctly average wage at Wigan as he came over a utility stop-gap, and since then he's been virtually begging for a club (which I can't understand).
I would certainly imagine he'd be on less than Tansey was, if not significantly less.

As with most positions if Whiting had more pace he could be International class. He is clever enough to play just about anywhere.

Any player who can keep off the pi[is[/is and turn up for training sober would be an improvement on Tansey

I remember Phelps running rings around us at Wigan away in 2009....week before CC Final....was it 66-6 to Wigan?? He was at right centre that day with Calders outside. Recall him and Yeamo having a real physical battle as they were opposing each other.
Can't wait to see him in an FC shirt....if he was British he would have been snapped up far earlier in the off-season.

Your not wrong, the reason he wasnt snapped up was because he has been on our radar via Ogre for well over a month now after many chats with the club via phone, plus i guess it isnt a case that he wasnt wanted elsewhere but most clubs are simply up to their quota which is great news for us and him.
He is a decent player that can play anywhere from 1-7 so will help the team massively...
so many stating he is a tough nut is good for us too, the more teeth we have the better in what will be a tough season for all clubs

| phelps is a solid player no doubt about that and should do a good job for you, one stat everyone is overlooking though is that he has only played 37 first team games in 3 years for whatever reason maybe he has just been unlucky?

Well if all the stories are true and Ogre has had him on the radar this last month, the visa could be well on the way to being processed.

| Have a feeling this may be another "Calders" type signing.
Everyone was wary and the majority negative about "Balsawood" before he arrived. One season later he was fans POTY as pretty much the only player to show consistent commitment and passion for Hull. Not the greatest winger in the world and he made a few mistakes but he was solid, supported well, went looking for play and his footballing skills were the best the SL!
Calders was loved because he tried and wanted it every match. Rarely let us down. If Phelps was that desperate to come and is playing for a contract in rugby for 2012, I think we may see a similar player emerge.

41 games here :

Plus 3 Play-offs in 2008 not included
Plus 4 Challenge Cup games
That's 48 games. Oh, and he didn't arrive until Round 16 in 2008 as a mid-season signing. So 48 games in two and a half seasons, then. But apart from that, great stats and insight. Thanks.

Top ownage.
Good point from WormInHand re: Calders. Cameron Phelps seems really keen to prove a point and earn a contract for 2012 either with us or elsewhere. Wigan fans overwhelmingly seem to rate him and they've seen far more of him than most on here.
