| Quote: bishops finger "There's no such thing as an enforcer nowadays, punches can't be thrown so they've died out. I think he'll be a good signing for you guys but Vete, Sims AND Satae were no great shakes first season so what's to say Evans won't be the same. Tetavano came over on big money but didn't exactly pull up trees did he, it says a lot about the overseas props in SL when the HDMs combined nations team for 2022 still has Fafita in it'"
Satae through no fault of his own as he was criminally underused by Radford as a impact bench prop. The aussie fans stated he often played 80 min stints and had a great work ethic, if he d of played bigger minutes he d of had a similar impact to last season.....

How does it actually work, do friendlys count towards bans?'"
Sounds like he will have 3 league matches to serve and 2 friendlies. Not too bad

| Sorry to burst anyone's bubble but my mate who lives in Oz called out the Reynolds signing saying he was finished and was just coming for a final payday as he was done in the Nrl. He's just said the same about Evans and also said wtf are FC and Hodgson doing?
Do people really expect the signing of Mckintosh, Lovadua and Evans are gonna suddenly change the team as I don't? I said a few weeks back we'd sign some supposed high profile player to try and sell season tickets and Evans is that except he's pretty poor - Should of let him sign for wakefield.
Another long hard season next year. If the bottom three get relegated to super league 2 we'll be lucky to not be in that bottom three imo. At best I'd say 8-9th.

I think we’ll go better next season. Firstly, if we get a fairer run on injuries/Covid next season that should help things for a start. Secondly, playing a full set of fixtures will address some of the imbalance in last season’s final league table.
On top of that, if we can cut out some of the lackluster performances e.g. Salford away, plus stupid discipline e.g. Jake at Wigan, then our final league position will be higher.

| Not sure who people expected us to sign? Who did you want? A big pudding like Vete or Sims? It’s slim pickings out there.
Even more so with an extra NRL team now.
We’ve retained everyone we’ve wanted to, and added in areas we needed to.
We’ve a shortfall in income, so we’ve done really well in the circumstances.
I’m not a happy clapper, but the constant default to moaning about whatever the club does is really boring.

My take on this is what did some people expect in terms of changes? I've been quite critical of the club the past season but am relatively happy with the closed season business. Due to the previous Coaches signings and deals done the poorer performers where all contracted. BH has come in and only brought in Reynolds as a replacement for the departing Kelly who was heading back home. Unfortunately no one could have forseen the affect covid has had on individuals and the team but its evident it has impacted. As for Reynolds being finished he didnt look that finished at the start of the season it was only once he picked up his hamstring injury then the covid situation and our season went downhill from there. Its difficult for some players to travel on their own to the other side of the world and takes time to settle and thats when youi can meet and interact with people. To come over on you own and be isolated by a lockdown I would imagine is very difficult so I'll give Reynolds credit for sticking it out.
Again it was BH first season as Head Coach and he faced very challenging times but has used the aseason to fully address where changes needed to be made. He along with AP have gone and made these changes despite having a number of players still contracted for next season so credit is due there instead of just sitting back and saying nothing can be done until the end of next season.
When you look at the quality coming over from the NRL it really isnt that great across the board so who do some think we can bring over when you take in to account the situation with current contracts, paying off required, then splashing out big money for a so called star when the income streams for next season are still an unknown in terms or how many fans will return etc.
I'll reserve judgement on Reynolds and Evans until the mid point of the coming season as over the years I have seen a number of so called big stars come from the NRL and simply not deliver and seen a number of players that came over with no star billing and rip it up in SL.
BH has tried to address the issues within the squad and given the limitations personally I'm pleased . Would I have liked more? of course who wouldn't but I'm also realistic and understand the issues faced in making additions and changes due to the contracts already within the squad.
Hopefully we will also see changes in BH bench selection next season which is where we seemed to really struggle.

| Surely we'd of been better off signing a young forward (like Scurr) rather than some over the hill never been very good player from the nrl. 3 out of 4 of our front row are from the nrl. We've only got one front row who is seeming to be able to step up in Brown but Hodgson hardly played him, then nothing, wheres the next Scott Taylor gonna come from. In 2 years time Ligi, Satae and Evans will all be off contract and wheres the conveyor of talent to replace them in house- there isn't any! Until we stop just trying to buy success with NRL cast offs we'll never achieve anything

We may well have tried to sign Scurr and simply not been successful or maybe they've discussed a deal for 2023 who knows. The sad fact is there are not many players available that are SL quality and this is made more evident when you like at Wigan, who have struggled even with their conveyor belt of talent to find quality forwards.
We've also been down the road of signing potential in the forwards look at Masi and also Bienek who was very highly rated but failed to make the jump to SL.
Its not just a Hull FC issue with lack of up and coming players its seems to be quite a wide spread issue within the game.

If we had signed Scurr instead of Evans you'd be moaning that he wasn't good enough and had no experience.

| He might not have been great the last couple of years in the NRL, but that rarely counts look at Hastings, Satae and Fifita.
He is big strong and has an offload, probably got him on the cheap as Warriors will have paid he off.
Are we better with Evan's or Bowden as our 4th prop.

Exactly and would we rather sign Evans or Billy Magoulias who Warrington have just announced? Think that again shows that there is a lack of top quality both available or willing to come over to the other side of the world.
It just didn't seem to work out for Evans at NZW so hopefully he will very come with a point to prove.
We've not had a forward will a good off load game since Watts so it would seem this is an area of his game that has appealed to BH in the way he wants the game played.

I've never really rated him, looked good in a very good Wigan side.
Will be on good money too.
Although what wingers do Warrington have, they have already released Lineham?
