Quote: The Dentist Wilf "I don't usually comment because I get myself into all sorts of trouble but this is a really interesting discussion

Can I just say that its very flattering that you quote the Diary and thanks as always to everyone for supporting it but in the end it is only one fans view and often wide of the mark as Rovers fans regularly point out, what's more its usually written straight after the game so the views are pretty raw.

However even now on reflection I have to admit that after the last two games I do feel let down by the players. It's not about skill or ability but about effort and demeanour and it has to be their responsibility to realise and interpret by their actions the importance of such games as these last two were. If it looks to us lot like they can't be d however much they protest that they can, there has to be an element of truth in it, because in sport actions speak louder than words.

I don't think that anyone can say that isn't true for they have to at least appear as enthusiastic as we all are! However, and its a big however, when I said this week ……...
[i
Our players have let us down in the last two games and however you try and dress that up, it’s a fact!! Mentally they are just not at the races and although I always shy away from Coach bashing I’m sure Lee himself realizes that the mental state that the players enter the field in, has to be down to their preparation and understanding of the situation. They look as if they don’t care and once the crazy desperate stuff starts with the ball in their quarter, no one seems capable of steadying it down. although I’m sure they do care, as I have often said it all seems a bit too cosy and comfortable for some of them at our club at present[/i.

Then its a corporate responsibility and I think I'm trying to say that in my opinion if they are ill prepared mentally and don't appear to us to want it enough or even as much as we do in such critical situations, then their preparation and mental coaching is not working and if that is going wrong and some do appear too comfortable at times with their status in the team, then it is down to the Coaching staff to make sure that isn't happening. Skills training is all fine but mental preparation is so important as I think we saw with Huddersfield this week.

I don't want to get into long diatribes about the Diary because it is just an opinion and as I say just my thoughts as an ordinary long suffering fan.

That's my two penneth anyway and you know You can usually detect the mood in camp by what comes out and what you hear and I think I quite fancy us on Thursday now!'"

You could see in the warm up for the Huddersfield game that there was no intensity or focus with Connor messing about at times with the ball.
This is where we need the coach to intervene.
Radford should get onto the touchline at times like Tony Smith did at Catalan and start showing some passion and pushing players who are not performing

Organisational culture is set from the top.
People can blame the players, the coaches etc but the person who has the power to change all of that is Adam Pearson and he has failed to do so.
For all his media soundbites over the years about not accepting mediocrity and sub standard performances here we are with the biggest number of hidings and embarrassing performances under his tenure.
His ill judged comments about not envisioning anyone other than LR being the coach while he is in charge has allowed a culture of complacency to permeate the whole club.
I realise this will go down like a lead balloon with most on here as AP is untouchable but that's how I see it.

Read my first post on Radford Out. I’ve laid the blame at his door.

Fair play. You make some good points.
Credit to Mrs Barista as well. She's identified APs limitations with regard to financial resources. It's depressing to think that this is our level and we've got nothing to look forward to without either a silent investor or new owner turning up.

Does anyone remember the Sean McRae before Shane Richardson left and the one after
Chalk and Cheese
Richo was a beast of a Chairman
He demanded success from his Coach

AP is not like that at all - he’s an enabler at the moment
Almost inept

Well, you could say the same of the last 30 years, albeit we do have our most successful coach of that period at the helm, so who knows? Hope springs eternal. Lee has got us to Wembley *twice* of course and we were narrowly defeated by the eventual winners in the semi final this time so there are grounds for optimism given we have beaten the odds already. It's more fun being the perennial underdogs. icon_biggrin.gifANCE:

Not really. You never know what you'll get. Had some great moments this year IMO, just not quite enough of them.

It’s not as if Saints, Leeds, Wigan and Wire are spending double what we are though. It’s a sport governed by a salary cap.
What becomes crucial is your coaching staff. I don’t buy us being a level below the teams I mentioned.
Hull are a big club in Super League, and relatively well resourced. Any attempt to make us believe we should be happy with our lot just won’t wash.

According to Scott Taylor in today's HDM, we need to look at the bigger picture and be thankful we're clinging on to 5th place instead of cementing 2nd spot because we finished last season badly.
Well that's OK then.

What he doesn't grasp, is that the picture can change. The league is poor this year, and 2nd was easily achievable so the end goal should have been adjusted a quarter of the way through the season and make it the minimum expectation, not then revert back to top 5 as being a good year because we showed no friggin bottle or desire

it was the "as a leader" comment that made me laugh.
