I think the point is, perhaps signings like Swift and MDJ will stifle the emergence of Buchanan and Josh Atkinson, or whoever young talent we may have.

At present perhaps only Cameron Scott and Jack Logan “when fit” in the reserve outside backs could possibly force a first team place.

So the signing of Swift pretty much complements Bureta and Naulago, and remember perhaps the army lad is sometimes unavailable, plus injuries, I think Swifts a good acquisition.

He’s better than MDJ, and with a stronger reserves forecast all round, will help us, if/when any new talent emerges.

But an outside back, without the need to be pedantic, and picked on the wing.

It’s not an improvement if he’s costs twice as much as MDJ, and stops us from signing a quality where we could have used the money instead.
Don’t see why he’d come here as third choice, when he’s already third choice at a much better club unless the money is likely a lot better. Therefore wasting it on a player we don’t really need.

Swift will be faster than anything you have I think this is a real decent signing for you can’t understand the negativity

He has a pretty good scoring rate and very evasive, under Cunningham he use to come up with errors now under Holbrook he has improved a lot. Is also pretty good on kick returns and running the ball out to help the forwards. Sorry to see him go he could have spat his dummy out when Grace got his shirt, he knuckled down and played well to try and get the shirt back.

Swift is a decent winger who will do a good job for us.

The past is littered with signings for us who have been rubbished on here before pulling on a shirt but gone on to be shrewd or even brilliant additions to the squad.

He will be going 2nd choice winger for me with Ratu. Did anyone see Ratu race in from his wing against Huddersfield with absolutely no reason to? Still raw and needs to develop

I don’t think people are saying he’s no good (barring JTP and maybe a couple more) I think it’s more the fact that the money could be better spent in the pack. Than signing a fourth winger. Okay fair enough if Ratu Nalaugo is going but I don’t think he will be. MDJ is decent enough to back up Faraimo and Nalaugo so as it stands didn’t need Swift imo.

The signing is growing on me more than when I first heard about our interest . If we want English , I suppose he’s not the level of Makinson Johnson McGillvary etc , but he’ll be on a lot less money . Pack is priority, so looks like that’s where most of our spare cap is going which is what we all want , so it will be interesting to see who we go with on the wings next season , swift will be one winger !
