Quote: Battering Ram "Sneyd's more off the cuff style?
Sneyd so far has been very run of the mill. He's disappointed rather than pleased in more games than not and off the cuff is not how I'd describe him. His odd moment of skill is currently outweighed by his poor play in my opinion.
Rarely takes line on, hit and miss kicking game and some of his passes have big red crosses on them and often takes the wrong pass option.
For me Chase if he can be controlled is a must.
He's unpredictable exciting and has proven he can win games on his own. Yes he has issues but surely he must know he's now in the last chance saloon and I think he'd compliment our forwards.
If financially viable I'd snap him up.
I'd also if possible consider cutting Pryce lose from his playing contract to replace him with Chase.
Pryce with his experience would be ideal on the coaching staff and would bring far more than currently offered.
All conjecture of course and simply my view.'"

IMO Sneyd is more of an individualist player than one who controls a game through measured long kicking and structured plays. We are more in need of a Brough than a Chase IMO.

"My style is off-the-cuff rugby, I enjoy not having too much of a structure when play breaks down that's what I enjoy," added Sneyd.

Not convinced by Sneyd, another on the list of reasonable players we have who don't change a game. That said I don't think ditching yet another halfback at high cost is the answer at the moment either, I think we have to stick with what we've got.

Wouldn't ditch him either. Just saying our need is more Brough than Chase.

I like Sneyd and think he is has a pretty good first season, not everything he does comes off, but he tries to creates things, hopefully with better players around him next year he will be mroe consistent.

Without him this year we wouldn't have finished in the top 8, as there were a few games that he helped us win that we would have lost the previous year.

Chase with ball in hand is dynamite... pure box-office.

Without the ball... he's a liability....

Sneyd needs coaching - one to one mentoring. His scanning/vision needs work as does his decision making.

Same applies to Houghton as well -IMO.

We need someone like a ..Sheridan,Deacon,Harris,Cooke,Webster, Pryce or a player of that ilk, as a member of the coaching team,to improve these players...

Snead is far from run of the mill and is a bloody big improvement on the dross we have had at 7 over the years.

Sneyd needs to improve his long field kicking by 100% IMHO. The inconsistency of the quality of his kicks downfield mirror the overall inconsistency in his game. Surprisingly the more time he has to make a decision (kicking or otherwise) the worse the decision seems to be. Has shown enough in his good games that he has what it takes - but needs to do it regularly.

Snyed has a wow of a season at Cas and we go for him and pay a fee,he comes to a new inviroment, with another new halfback and people expect him to carry on as he did at Cas,he hasn't hit the heights of his Cas form but he has had a fairly good debut season and will get better,he has missed Ellis IMO as they was beginning to get a good understanding going.

I also like Sneyd.Bit disappointed with his place kicking out wide but he does work hard for the team.
needs to take the line on a bit more and improve his long kicking game.we dont seem to have anyone that can kick a 40 20.
Its a great tactic and should be used a lot more.

Agree with all that.

Hopefully he will continue to improve and play a big part next year.

Sneyd is also 5th in try assists too. Considering we finished 10th in tries I think that's a pretty good effort.

Sneyd is a mercurial player. At times he has shown flashes of magic but all to often he lets himself down with his decision making. He also needs to improve his long kicking game and is a weak defender. Irrespective of that he has got loads of talent and I expect big things from him next season
