I seem to recall 6th place and a cup final in that period, but then the coach got sacked so I suppose you have a point.

Im sure most of us would like to go back to the Gentle era with the benefit of hindsight, but let's not forget Pearson promised Top4, international signings and trophies when he took over and has failed.

| i stopped counting how much ive spent supporting and following the club this season, season pass £255, shirt £50, around £220-30 on away tickets so far, £35 club coach travel to newcastle, £15 to sheffield, around £200-250 petrol money and match programmes, finally £500+ going to catalan, even though it was a holiday we base it around the game, usa 2017 for me now!
about a £1000 thrown down the drain believing promise after promise
no more now! after the 23 rounds i'll just be attending the home games be it bottom 4 which seems most likely, or top 8
unless radford goes the club wont get anymore money from me

Who's to say Top 4 etc wouldn't have happened if Gentle hadn't been booted out (and the rumours are pretty poor about why that was). AP has let himself be guided by others too much which is part of the reason for the failure.

Not counted properly but
£495 pass
£130 on shirts and kit
£70 train to Newcastle
£40 on Magic tickets
£200 approx on tickets
£200+ on petrol as every game is "away"
As I've said on Twitter, better things to spend my time and money on unless there's an improvement. It's more annoying because we have good times and then we have tonight.

I agree. I'd also add that in hindsight some of the Gentle/McRae signings that have been much maligned aren't any worse than what we've replaced them with. Players like Arundel, Miller, Lynch, Pitts probably weren't going to win us trophies, but they aren't any worse than what Radford's brought in, and we could have saved a load of cash not paying them off.

Other clubs have grafters who do well, yet we seem to be after big names and then lack the ability or will to get them playing well every game.
Those 4 were never world beaters but were ok. I'm sure Miller hated every minute tonight. Nearly beat us on his own

But I am now wondering if he is just a bad businessman who struck lucky with Peter Taylor at City (after several bad managerial appointments let's not forget) and bought his way to success in the lower football divisions. He can't keep playing the 'blame Hetherington, Gentle & McRae' cards that's for sure.'"
Given Radford's clear lack in almost every department as a rugby league coach and him not using the youth when he had chances to over the last 1.5 years this has now put our youth system back in terms of development hugely IMO.
Cunningham is leaving & got next to zero game time, how many actual minutes have any of the younger players got this season, even last season Radford brought in Colborn (& signed Biggs, well he was assigned a jersey no. at least) when he could have used Lancaster earlier, brought in a useless/unfit/injured Carvell whom left shortly afterwards.
Abdul has had 10 games (with a fair few of those with not many minutes at all) and in a team lacking confidence and things clearly not right behind the scenes still gets the finger pointed at him by the coach (his radio comment was as clear as daylight!). We might have great facilities, we might even have a good coach in RH, we surely do have some talented kids but that's all pointless when you have a big steaming gap toothed turd in charge who doesn't have a clue about player development

Nail on the head, - Radford is incapable of (can't be @rsed) developing young players, & IMO is the reason most of our recent signings are in their 30's, - they don't need coaching.
Its a short term fix (to save his job?) & surely Pearson can see this goes against his usual `youth development' - `jam tomorrow' rhetoric, when pass sales need a boost.
If he can't, we are in deep sh** !

From an outsiders perspective - Hull players seem to go out of fashion and get moved on to be replaced by other average players who have just happened to have a good season. It's rare you sign any genuine class like Ellis.

| Listening to Pearson now on Blunderside, its the first time he's been pressed in an interview, and the first time he's not said anything positive of note.
And probably took the call in his Elland Road office

| Whilst I don't think Radford is good enough as head coach (and was certainly put in way too soon) I think the biggest problem is the apparent lack of any long term plan or strategy for the club in almost every area.
There doesn't seem to be a plan for developing your young players or for the playing squad as a whole. And that comes down to the management rather than the coach. At Leeds our squad has been managed and developed by Hetherington. Now the head coaches have all had significant input obviously, but it's been within an overall framework and structure that's put in place by the management. So whether the head coach is Brian McClennan or Brian McDermott doesn't matter THAT much because the management (ie Hetherington) is ensuring that aspects of player/squad development etc continue regardless. The same goes for young players, because the Leeds management ensures youth development is a priority regardless of the head coach, the young players know they are going to be treated well and given an opportunity.
That continuity and stability is vital and something that Hull are sorely lacking in my opinion. Your squad is a mystery to me. It appears to change vastly from year to year especially the important positions of 1,6,7, and until recently 9 too. It never seems like there's a plan, it's as if the management go "oh cr@p we need a <insert position here> who the hell is available?" without any real regard for how they fit into the team or how long they'll stay at Hull/how committed they are to staying at Hull.

Were supposed to be using Wigans club blueprint focused on development with the emphasis on bring the youth through to finely play first team .
We're doing a great job on how it shouldn't be done as well .
