| Quote: K-Diddy "No I'd say defence & defensive positioning is also a very large part of a wingers game.'"
A try saved is a try scored.
A threequarter still needs to score tries though or what's the point? Now Whiting is back Sa should be in the centres.

| With the players they have and us more or less at full strength, I will be very disappointed if we lose this one.

Leeds score tries with ease it seems and IMO the best centre in the league Joel Moon has only scored 3 tries and didn't score his first try until the 8th game of the season(ever present in the team),would you have dropped him??

Lineham stays on his wing and marks his man you can deduct the 10 points they scored.'"
In nearly every super league game of every round, a winger is guilty of this, wingers just cant resist, happens in NRL games to. If Lineham is fit, he plays surely! Unless its for another reason, which is been kept in house, then no one can comment on that

He dropped Lineham after our best victory of the season.
I still think Yeaman should have made more effort to get back to the try and catch the ball on the full.
If fit Lineham should be in, miles better than Micheals, who for me is one of the most average overseas players we have signed in the last few years, I just don't see what he brings to the team.

| For me Lineham if fit should play and Naughton should keep his place after his performance.
The two players who should be feeling the pressure to perform and show some attacking threat are Yeaman & Michaels as their try scoring return this season is pitiful.
Yes Lineham made a couple of mistakes but if he is going to punish players for mistakes and drop them, then it should count for all of players.
Yeaman made no attempt to whatsoever to deal with Ratchfords kick or the advancing Monaghan, also against Cas there were two or 3 occasions that he came out the line and missed the player leaving a massive gap which so nearly cost us dearly. As for Michaels he's ok but thats it nothing more (waste of an oversee's spot imo) and doesnt offer what Lineham or Naughton do. The same goes for Yeaman when comparing him with Talanoa & Sa.
Would much rather see Lineham & Naughton as our wingers with Sa & Talanoa as the centres and think that is our strongest backline both in an attacking sense and defensively.

Great post and I think anyone would struggle to argue with anything you have said.
Talanoa for me has been a revelation at centre, playing that position really plays to his strengths and nullifies his weaknesses.
I really hope he continues to play there no matter what happens to the wing position.

What do you reckon your team will line up like?
And what has happened to the Saints forum, it's like a ghost town?

| Lineham + Naughton as our speed merchants. Sa + Talanoa as hulking big centres who will just run straight over the top of the opposition before putting their winger away.
IMHO Yeaman is currently robbing a place in the squad - he should be playing for his position and not just a shoe-in because he's bezzies with Radford.

Perfectly summed up.
Number 6, I agree with everything you've said on this thread too.
It's as laughable to drop Lineham for mistakes made as it was Shaul. These players have won matches. Has Yeaman this season? Michaels? Lineham and Shaul should be at the back of the "dropped" queue, any coach worth his salt would see that. So I can only assume it's for off-field reasons - I would hazard a guess at attitude. Better ways to handle that if you're a good manager rather than cutting off your nose. Just my assumption, could be wrong.

To an extent I could understand the Shaul one as with having Rankin to slot in we don't really lose out in the FB role as both players offer geniune threat with their pace even though both a slightly different players.
But for me it really is a no brainer that our best backline both defensively and as an attacking threat would be that of Lineham & Naughton on the wing with Sa & Talanoa in the centres. This is based purely on what each player brings.
Both Sa & Talanoa have an ability to break tackles, make good yards and put a winger into space but also chip in with trys of their own and both have shown theyre pretty good defensively. Yeaman defensively in the main is good but as an attacking threat he is now lacking.
Lineham & Naughton both have pace and physically strong again can make decent yards and score trys as has been proven by their records this season so far both short or long range. Michaels again is ok but is seemingly more lightweigh than both Lineham & Naughton and has yet to show is is capable of matching the scoring ability that the other two have shown. Defensively he is really any better than Lineham to be fair?
So I can only hope it is geniunely because Lineham is injured and not being risked but Radford didnt help himself with the 'Shaulgate' affair.
