Well presumably a steward nearby lends a hand. Not a major issue, really.

| Is it just me or is this another incremental step towards trying to get us out? This is completely out of our Clubs hands and another antagonistic initiative from the SMC. Rugby League is a more traditional sport than Football and all clubs rely on a walk up audience it's part of the culture, to me its a bloody disaster what will they try next to put us off attending the beer prices going up.......again?

| Self scanning works well for events that are all ticket and are sold out most weeks so there's hardly any walk up/casual supporters but for sports like rugby league that don't sell out stadiums and there are a lot of walk up/casual supporters it's just a ridiculous concept and I fear it could lead to the loss of more supporters which is something the sport could do without at the moment. This news has already put me off going on Sunday it'll be manic and I don't fancy standing around outside in the cold just for a friendly, luckily I have a season pass this year so won't effect me during the season.

| Hmmmm. I'd rather not put my faith in cheap technology and the helpfulness of the average steward.

Quite. It's putting a barcode under a scanner, not rewiring the national grid. We managed it OK in 2013 when turnstyles for season ticket holders were unmanned.
I think there should be some manned turnstyles for cash payments, though.

| Surely a half way house of unmanned pass/ticket turnstyles and a few manned cash ones would be the best option. FOr what it would cost the club should stump up it as they'd make more than it costs them

| How is it an over reaction if I choose not to trust untried technology?

| People see this as good or "wheres the worry?"
We live in a city that has very little suplus income. Many households still live on a week to week income, they simply dont have the spare cash to go get a ticket well in advance of the game.
Last season we had a 2k average walk up, how many poke their head out the door the morning of the game and decide to go on the day
What will this do to away fans. We already are one of the most expensive clubs to get in for away fans, we already charge away fans more for their half time pint than home fans.
Gates will fall, away numbers will fall, Allam will then justify the closure of stands and the strangle of the mill stone round our neck gets a little tighter.

| So if you're not a passholder, you'll either need to decide by Thursday at the latest to get a ticket posted to you, or travel into Hull twice, once to get a ticket and once to go to the match. Handy if you live in Beverley, say.
There just have to be tickets available on the day, otherwise phrases like "I'll be going to the game if I get back in time" will be a thing of the past.
