Oh my..you never had a hyde's meat pie!! Yes, you missed out, think it was a Hot water crust pastry wth a delicious minced beef and gravy filling. Used to get some on the way to my nans every week without fail. I know time passes and I was a kid but craving for one of those pies nicely warmed (or even cold with brown sauce) was just an abiding memory. I'd take one with me to the Boulevard and get my auntie to warm it up before she'd get me in for nowt (she was a barperson in the club & my uncle a groundsman)..Happy happy days icon_biggrin.gif

A Tardis might be handy.

Well, after building the Boulevard, I might be tempted to go back in time and bring back 17 or so players.

A good bite at the corner and then drink the contents, probably the best meat pies ever made. When I was an apprentice I was sent there every Friday lunchtime on my bike to get everyone a pie for lunch....brilliant! They moved from being near Welstead street further down Hessle Road to near West Dock Avenue but the pies never tasted the same. Top Memory KBII!!

Sound like the stuff of legend. Anyway, it's rolled over to £150m, so with the extra £7m I'm tracking down the recipe and installing concessions with free pies for all.

The recipe died with the old boy as I recollect hearing, damn bloody shame that. icon_cry.gif but if you can unearth it, I'll certainly make them and flog them outside of the KC to willing buyers. icon_lol.gif
I started out as a pastry chef many moons ago so I might just have a crack at making a few this week, sometimes you can't beat a properly crisp water crust pastry...nom nom
getting the gravy right though is the trick, not too thin, not too thick and a proper seal so it doesn't run out..fork tine crimping too
