He's 35 in 2 months' time. He was offered a 2 year deal, effectively taking him to 36, at Cas while he had a year to run on his deal at FC.

so why didn't he sign?

The point being if we'd matched the length of deal Cas offered at that point, folk would have been apoplectic at offering a deal taking him to 36 years of age. People choose to cherry pick "points" to suit whatever downer they have on the club at that point in time. Transparent and disappointing, but there we are.
