Quote: Mr. Zucchini Head "Harsh and unrealistic. Changes need to be made without a doubt, but not every player at Leeds, Wigan and Saints is a super star and we have plenty of guys who are good enough to play in a top team without being brilliant players.

The guys we need to keep as a priority and build a team around are imo

I doubted the signing of Feka but i have to admit hes impressed me this season. He showed what we were missing on Good Thursday with his willingness to take on Rovers pack almost single handley.

I find so much wrong with that article that words fail me right now. Might offer more of a critique later.

We've become too soft and sentimental as a club, we have given deals to players who maybe didn't serve them or have the ability anymore to warrant them. We have had god knows how many testimonials in the past few years and that to me has allowed players to become complacent, the testimonial players seem more interested in flogging a curry night then playing on the pitch.

Its give out the wrong message and standards have dropped, rapidly. They should be given a pre season match and that is it, too many of them are getting to testimonial stages and thinking they have done enough to see there career out at the club IMO.

I don't care if we go down, if it means we can rip everything and everyone out of this club. We just look like a club that would really benefit from it, wipe the slate clean and start again. Concentrate on bringing through the new breed of Hull players who would do anything to wear that shirt, because half the current lot don't deserve to wear it.

At this moment in time my only survivors from this squad would be Westerman, Shaul and Rankin. Out of a squad of 32 players that is really really poor.

I too signed up to the direct debit scheme and I am now thinking of opting out, to lose £25 to never see that e again is money well spent in my eyes.

“It wasn’t ideal but it took Jason Crookes’ sending off for us to actually start having a real go and begin working for each other, and play with a bit of intensity.

We have got a lot to get out of that last 20 minutes, it showed the character that is certainly there within the squad about how far we are willing to dig for each other."

Two consecutive paragraphs that almost totally contradict one another.

It took a man getting sent off for us to start working for each other, but the last twenty minutes shows how much character we have? If we had 'character', surely it wouldn't have taken three quarters of the game and going a man down to get us up for the fight, would it? Or am I missing something?

Spot on.

How many times do we see us play our best rugby in a match when the game has already gone. Its almost like there doing it on purpose.

Its just the same as, "well I hope Radders gives them a good roasting at half time". B@lls why should it take a half time team talk to up the anti in a Derby??
Bottom line is, too many just playing their way through games while the odd two or three bust their guts - Milky and Rankin included. Ok they may not be good enough right now but I wish some of the others had the same attitude as they. Feka, Houghton, Shaul, Westy and the two I've just mentioned layed with hearts on sleaves, the rest did'nt give a toss, or that was the impression anyway.

I've been on the internet and have already got a sense of the fans' passion for the club. They are very fanatical - Peter Gentle 12th September 2011. Money doesn't talk it swears, Obscenity who really cares, Propaganda all is phony. I'm the son and heir of a shyness which is criminally vulgar. Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way. A man who lives in hell can still aspire to heaven.:cartoons/WB17.gif

Tom Lineham?

I would just like to point out that when I posted my (very short) list of retainees last night, I was projecting onto a desired scenario sometime in the future, some 4/5 years into the future in fact. I wasn't advocating that 95% of the 2014 squad should be heading through the outdoor come September. Plus, after the events of the last couple of weeks I am currently in one of my very cynical moods.

I will repeat though that if we were looking to build towards a Grand Final winning team in say, 2019, then right now my only absolute definates would be Shaul & Lineham. Added to that would be a (short) list of probables/possibles including Westerman, Houghton, Crooks and one or two others.

The rest, by and large, would be gone by 2019, due to a combination of age/attitude/ability. I agree with Pmarrow in that we have become soft and sentimental and it is one of the reasons why the development of Hull Fc as a club has driven straight down a blind alley since October 2006.

Just out of interest, does anyone know how many of the Leeds side which won their first Grand Final in 2004 was a first team member in 1999. Or, similarly, how many of Warrington's 2007 vintage took to the Old Trafford stage in 2012. The point being that Leeds & Wire were the two clubs who held the great under achievers tag before we assumed the mantle. What kind of player turnover was required to turn those two clubs from continually falling short to regularly putting silverware in the trophy cabinet.

Leeds, in particular, are an example of how employing the right people in the right position at the right time can turn a perpetually under achieving club into one of British Rugby League's genuine heavyweights. It's been done before and it can be done again, but it will require vison and determination with a commitment to ongoing self improvement in all aspects of the club allied to a clear plan with definable year on year preset goals leading ultimately (within a 5-8 year time span) to Hull Fc sitting at the top table (and not just as an occasional guest for dinner). Oh, and it will take a lot of sheer hard work from all concerned.

One things for sure, because of numerous mistakes too many to mention over the last six or seven years, it will not be a simple and straightforward job and it will not be completed in a year or two. However, as with any major rebuilding job, the sooner we get started the sooner we will be finished. It's harsh and it's brutal, but deep down I think we all secretly realise we are rapidly approaching a point of no return. If the people at the very top of our club don't make some tough, decisive and probably controversial decisions then we seriously could be looking at years, maybe even decades, of mid table nonentity or even worse because at the moment watching Hull Fc play feels like death by a thousand cuts.

The time for decisive action is right now, here today, because as the original poster for this thread so succintly put it Enough is Enough.

Quote: Chris28 "I thought it was interesting that yesterday Cas had 5 FC rejects playing for them. Deemed not good enough for the mighty FC, they're now part of a side that has improved massively this year (yes, it may not last) and they look down on our lowly 10th place from 3rd, having thrashed a team that beat us only a few weeks ago.

The point being of course that a side (regardless of so-called quality) that is together and wants to play can do so much better than a team of supposed stars who either can't or won't. On paper, you'd say we're better in the majority of positions, but in terms of form, confidence and will to win, they're streets ahead.

We need to start again, write off this season and build over the next few, like Cas have, like Leeds did, like Wigan did. I'm not suggesting that we chuck games, but why not blood some of the youngsters? Try different set ups, game plans? We seem to be playing completely different 17s and different game plans week in week out anyway, so why not actually say it and do it?

We as fans need to calm down with our expectations that we can win trophies and realise that we ain't going to be challenging for some time. We might fluke a CC final and maybe win it, but the aim should be long term success, not a quick fix just so we can say we won something. AP needs to read the riot act, get rid of some players, some coaches and effectively start again.

Some of our defence on Saturday was shocking and we're back in the old "go behind, heads down" way I thought we'd got rid of. Once we go behind the players seem to feel that its game over. It is so frustrating because we've seen a few times this year that we CAN play well.

Still, come Thursday, we'll have a player trotting out the "we can beat Leeds and kick on from that" flannel and then have our backsides comprehensively handed to us at Headingley on Friday night.

Perhaps for different reasons, but I'm with Dobbo. Enough is enough. I love Hull FC, which is why seeing us like this hurts.'"

I agreed wholeheartedly but it has to start with the right people in place which includes a coach who has been there, seen it, done it and got the t shirt otherwise the chances are we will end up going off track
