You can't compare the defensive duties of a HB with that of a centre. You're supposed to protect your halfbacks and our defensive record was pretty good last year when Miller was in the team.
Either Radford has his favourites or there's cap implications. Given there's a similar situation with Pitts I'll go for the former.

Of course you can, if you cant tackle your no good on a rugby pitch, if he goes between the wing & centre to defend he will be targeted you do protect them but you cant tackle for him youve just got a crush on miller.. the sooner you get over him the better, pitts is a squad player & should be in when the troops are down but again he picks the team on how they do all week, i know for sure 100% radders picks the team on what he sees fit not favourites, he wont pick anyone who will let the side down and jeopardize his own job. fact!

Just not the right week to bring miller in let's get all our props fit we will get injuries to our halfbacks down the line. iam sure his time will come but in all honestly I didn't see much from him last season that would greatly improve us at the moment. We'll be struggling in the middle, and adding in the Crooks factor, the fewer unforced changes the better.

Really? I'm not the only one disappointed by Millers omission. The comment was mainly put forward because of the Jay Pitts situation, which coupled with Smailes' tweet earlier in the week is a genuine question if you ask me.

The thing I'm most surprised about is Pitts not being in the squad when our front row is as depleted as it is. He's got plenty of experience of playing prop (or 13 in a similar style) which is what we would need in this game where we potentially will only have 1 recognised prop (Watts) playing there.
I don't think Prop is the position for Pitts in the long run but surely he should have at least been in the squad for this game with Green, Carvell, Paea, Bowden, and possibly Feka all out?

Unsurprised at Miller's absence. I think he's deserving of a shot when you look at the performances of our other HBs but I don't think that this is the weel for it when we have so many injuries in other areas.

I think we'll see either Houghton or Heremaia playing some of the game at 13 with the other at Hooker.

You better hope that Crooks doesn't play on Sunday, otherwise your argument is in bits. Either way, I think that you are wrong. Whilst his defence isn't brilliant, it's not the disaster you're making it out to be.

I also agree with others, Pitts is the more baffling omission if he's fit, just seems bizarre.
