| As a fan of RL, RU and football shirts in general I don't really think much to it, but it's a nice concept, and something different. Agree though three or four shirts a season is surely getting a bit excessive, especially for parents on tight budgets but with kids wanting them all.
Whatever happened to the Heritage idea for all the clubs? Disagree with Magic personally, but that sounded an excellent idea. If I was the Hull retail manager I'd certainly get a cotton retro shirt out next year for the anniversary, every time you guys bring one out supplies seem to sell out, and as an objective fan that 82 v-neck shirt is still one of the best shirts either club has ever had.
Re the sharks comment, have to say when you look back now those two first Sharks shirts from Hull's promotion season were brilliant for their time IMO, and I'd certainly be hunting eBay for one if I was a Hull fan.
Speaking of eBay, picked up a 2001 Rovers shirt for £4 lately, can't be bothered keeping up with the current shirts these days and prefer some of the older ones anyway.
FTR I think a kit change every season takes the p**s too, but money talks I guess.

| Lol, to be fair Billy I'll admit I was a bit of a d**k on here (and I apologise) like others years ago but am well and truly past that now, get far more from a decent discussion. And I'm also a real enthusiast when it comes to RL / RU / football shirts so could ntalk about them all day.

I used to have a good collection of old Hull shirts but sadly lost them in a move around 10 yrs ago (would love to know where they are). Did however manage to not lose all my old Liverpool shirts (thankfully), (yes I am one of those strange people who love rugby and football equally).
Worth a good bit of money now, especially some of the shirts from the 70's.
Think I have voiced on here before my belief that only youths and shapely women should wear team shirts now. Hate to see the overweight gent who believes that Radders maybe short of a prop or 2 and pick them...
Before people shoot me down, I know Pearson etc don't think the same and 7,500 sales increases profit etc etc yada yada yada...

| I think we forget at times that despite good crowds for RL we do lose a lot through the gate as we don't own the stadium or get anything (as far as I know from catering). So the club have to make up that shortfall where they can. The natural place for that is in the merchandise we see.
Yes we have three shirts this year so far. I don't count testimonials although we are in a rich vein of those at the moment. But retail keeps moving and HFC as a business is no different. High street stores have a new range each season, we should and are following. The stuff clearly gets sold otherwise we wouldn't see the results we have seen over the past decade.
I have 4 kids they like the shirts, I like replica shirts but there are only so many they can have each year. That said if you are sensible you can always pick up a bargain or two during the sales the club have. I rarely buy at the full asking price.
I think the loss of Lee to Leeds may well be a mistake. Not as much as losing Briscoe but potentially from a finances view point big. But it might mean we only get two shirts a year and only a few t shirts / polo shirts / training ranges etc which will appease those who don't like seasonal ranges.
Bottom line is £3m cash through the business per year from a fan base of 20000 that's bloody amazing.

| Only previously players I can think of off the top of my hear are Nathan Blacklock, Matt Sing & Sid Domic....seems a bit far-fetched to release a shirt for them.
Apparently it reflects the heritage and history of the city/club....I'm not so sure?
I preferred last season's Magic/Challenge Cup run shirt, best shirt we've had in year's!

Brad Webb, centre during the 90/91 season I think. Great player.

| I love Sid's artwork, but the shirt? Eurgh. Hate it.
But I love the idea. It'll sell shed loads. And credit to FC for the concept.

It's not about Hull's Aboriginal links, it's about the history of the club shown in the style of traditional Aboriginal art.

| the more i think about it the more i like hutchies idea of using the 'rub of the green' shirts against rovers
only joking, i quite like sid's shirt, what folk have to remember is aboriginie art is very abstract, for example they use a lot of symbols for common features in the landscape and everyday world. the art is often an extension of a dream or idea and most works of art have a strong story behind them. religious belief is a strong theme too - i guess you could relate this to the passionate following of the club by its fans, with the stadia seen by domic as places of worship and the shirt could be the story of his time spent in hull from debut to grand final - or it could just be bolix

| It looks alright for what it is but I would people seriously wear it when not at the games?
I'm guessing some people would as they do with normal shirts but just no for me
