Quote: major black "It looks that way but I thought the search was for a vocal 7 ( the one voice AP talked about) to lead us about. Would probably have preferred an experience out an out 7 (if one exists). Either way, I'm happy to see Miller given a chance and Rankin looks like he could exploit situations on quick second phase plays as another poster has already alluded too.'"

I do think people are forgetting that during last season, Miller was the one telling people what to do etc.. He was telling Holdsworth what to do..
I do feel having Miller an Rankin could be an exciting partnership with Horne the older Experienced one there to support them.

With all the signings we've made, hate on me all you like but i've got a gd feeling we will do well next year. Trophies don't no but consistency will be the key again.

I hope the fans give this guy and Miller a chance, and not start booing or getting on their back.

next season is going to be another mid-table 'transition' year and the fans have to accept that fact. We have made a lot of interesting gambles on the signings front, and while many may work there's always the chance that a couple of them won't.

The big positive is that the squad is one of the youngest we've had since the early days at the KC, with only Ellis, Feka, Horne, Heremaia & Yeaman over 30.

I'd be happy with another 6th place finish next season IF we show massive improvements in our style of play and look to be building something for the season after.

Miller needs an experienced head around him not a fellow junior who will need time to settle yet be expected to move the team around.

I hope I'm wrong put Paea/Tuson aside the recruitment is either desperate or completed by people who have no contacts.

And all this Brisbane and St George wanted him but he chose us speal, yea right.

But good luck to the lad and welcome.

The fact he was captain for Aussie schoolboys gives me great hope. You don't captain them unless your a cracking player whilst must also have some leadership qualities about him. I'm happy with this signing with what is available I think we have done alright & at least have some options now to cover injuries & loss of form. Miller needs to stand up & be counted next year but if these two click we could have a very exciting halfback combination & one that could be the cornerstone of our team for the next few years.

great to be signing young players. Potentially we could put out a very young side:-
Shaul 21
Lineham 22
Crooks 20
Arundul 22
Crookes 23
Miller 21
Rankin 21
Green 23
Houghton 25
Watts 23
Hadley 21
Kent 22
Westerman 24

Average 22

Throw in the experience of Pea, Ellis, Whiting, Horne etc,

Can only be good for the future, icon_biggrin.gif

Don't think its an issue of lack of contacts, there just simply isn't the talent available.

The only team that has made significant moves in the market is Salford, who have generally signed players over 30 and the controversial Chase & Hock. Apart from that the only signing that creates interest is Masoe Masoe at Saints, but i've only been aware of him due to his performances for Samoa. Aside from that its just a string of unknown Aussies coming, the same squad players moving teams, or teams snapping up players London have released.

Its not like 3-4 years ago where we could sign SOO, ex-Test players like Berrigan, Crocker, Fitzgiboon & O'Meley, the market just isn't there any more.

Saints recruit has been excellent, they have signed 3 players Amor, Masoe and Walsh. The two NRL players were very well known and we should have at least bid for them both.

But I agree about the lack of quality players available.

I'm please with Rankin's signing but if we encounter visa issues should we move for Michael Witt now London are going into administration?

OK he's not a top level half back and but he does have several years SL experience and could do a job for a season or two.

Welcome to Hull, Jordan.

I'm happy with this signing. The kid has loads to prove and his NRL experience will be vital to our young halfbacks coming through.

We're building a very young side but thats no bad thing.

Well said and echoes my sentiments exactly. We know horne will miss a chunk of the season through injury and heremaia isn't rally up to it in the halfs s we'll be relying on 2 kids from the other side of the world who haven't even played a full season between them. I hope it comes good but can't see it. Add in he other high risk signings and it could be a long season

Miller came in and was thrown in the deep end without the benefit of an off-season. This year both Miller and Rankin will have 3 months to train together with the rest of the team.

Again, an improvement on last year.

While I understand our last few experienced halfs in Holdsworth, Seymour and Long haven't really worked.

Not much about now and the last recruitment hasn't given Radford much to play with, better having Rankin than playing heremia there or signing Mcgoldrick.

Happy with this signing, he looks a great prospect. The key thing for me is that we are now filling the spine of our team with youth.

The one concern I do have is we now lack an 'organiser' in the halves but I'm hoping Horne and Heremaia's experience will be invaluable to the two young kids.

It'll definitely be exciting if Miller and Rankin both get to play 'off-the-cuff' rugby.
