Quote: Mild mannered Janitor "Many, including myself, mentioned that this bloke could not be trusted further than he could be thrown and its proving to be right.

Very much glad he has no direct interest in Hull FC. The sooner he is out of the KC the better for all parties concerned.'"

Indeed so.

[quote="Philip Larkin":2lhqd089] There ain’t no music East side of this city That’s mellow like mine is, That’s mellow like mine. [/quote:2lhqd089]:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_32444.jpg

Quote: hull smallears "IMO it is another attempt at getting the stadium. I think he is deliberately being obtuse, to alienate the fans. They will then hopefully get on his side when he says "the only other way to make money is to get the stadium"

I think he is doing himself no favours, on a now national basis.

My original post was that I just think it would be amusing (if unbelievably childish and counter productive) for Pearson to say something like that off the cuff.'"

I think you're right, Smallie. This always has been and, out of necessity, will always continue to be his goal. Make no mistake, the rebranding of a minor premier league club in order to sell a few shirts in the far East will generate peanuts compared to the commercial income at his fingertips in the shape of the stadium and it's land. He knows that full well. It's almost as if he's saying 'if you want to keep the name I need the stadium - get behind me in numbers'. How else can you interpret this?

Interestingly, that quote also confirms it was always his intention to generate a commercial income from the freehold, forget 'sporting village gifts' and 'I'm doing it to thank the city of Hull and it's people for the haven you gave me'. His mercenary agenda is now laid bare for even the most ardent seal-clappers whose rose-tinted spectacles must now surely be sliding off the end of their noses.

Adam Pearson hinted at our forum the other week that Allam was attempting to negociate with the council again. But only yesterday Phil Buckingham tweeted this:

@PJBuckingham "A definite conclusion drawn today, there appears to be zero chance of reconciliation between Assem Allam & Hull City Council".3:26pm - 12 Nov 13

Has another smack in the face from the council precipitated the latest, hilarious, tantrums?

I pointed all this out to David Burns on Sportstalk in 2011. If it was a gift, why would you need the stadium to borrow against? Who would foot the running costs of these gymnastics arenas, an Olympic size swimming pool and 2nd ice rink in an era of public spending austerity? It had to be a commercial, money-making development to benefit him, whether City or another Allamhouse entity. This was subsequently proven in the rants bit later about wives going to "boutiques" next to the stadium whilst the men went to the game. The ridiculous sporting gift fairytale was a transparent wrapper for a commercial land grab. The promise of sporting facilities to keep children off the streets appears to have vanished. I'd like the council to give me the Guildhall for nothing so I can build a hotel in it and keep the profits. It's my right. Otherwise I'll antagonise all the councillors by calling them something silly. It's so logical. icon_lol.gif

I said this 2 years ago when I heard his insane rant about merging Hull and Rovers. He's a forking fruitcake.

I sincerely hope the rumours of an AP consortium to buy the stadium come to fruition.

Can the council liquidate the SMC?

Quote: Chris28 "How did Burnsy respond?'"

Well, him and Phil Buckingham I think were on, both were a bit surprised, but I got a lot of airtime.

The main points I made werre:
The story doesn't stack up, "gifting" a massive sporting arena to the city if you have to borrow to fund it.
It has to be a commercial venture, otherwise who finds the interest payments on the reported £113m cost? You're not going to do it off low-returning and land-hungry assets like Swimming pools and ice rinks. And who pays the running costs?
If the commercial ventures don't return (and returns from retail land are diminishing as customers move online) and repayments can't be met, the stadium could end up in the hands of the banks, with zero public/council control
How is there town planning capacity for another retail development anyway? The patchwork of shopping centres in the city centre mean loads of vacant units already, so why would the planning authorities sign off yet another one less than a mile away when there's no demand? Planning policy generally s moving away from "out of centre" approvals.
There are a lot of additional covenants on West Park and a Royal Charter too, there are good and long-standing reasons for that

There was a lot of nodding along, but I don't think they really got it, bit like "Very interesting love, now make me a brew while I ring Assem to try and get a view of the plans for this fantastic sporting village he's building for the people of Hull. They cost three grand you know! We'll be a 2 ice-rink city, that's a first!" icon_lol.gif

Subsequently of course the boutique comment showed it was a retail idea, and the latest outburst that it was to fund City's coffers.

He also did say, "if we don't get the KC we WILL build at Melton for £161m." Not heard much about that one lately.

Surely if the Council did decide to offload the stadium if would have to be put up for sale, they simply can't give it away.

I doubt he'd come back on here. He's had his headlamp polished and is seeing Allam for what he is - I'd be surprised if he'd come back on here to eat humble pie.

Looks like Lambrettaman's one of the ringleaders of this CTWD supporters group who Allam is dismissing as the "vocal minority". He's being very prolific and scathing about his one-time Pharaoh over on rlthe quite-entertaining 606 City forumrl.

He still thinks they should be given the stadium, though, poor little Lamb.

These few posts did catch my eye, though

That article is only a few months old. Has something else happened (as Phil Buckingham alluded to the other day on Twitter) to necessitate another wave of antagonism towards the council? If those were his tactics, they don't appear to be working, the only antagonism from the City fans at present seems to be generated towards himself.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and proudly proclaiming `Wow, what a ride`:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_60404.png

He comes over like a spoilt child. My decision, my money. No-one questions my decisions. Really Mr I am, Thankfully the council have done.
