Warrington forward Ben Westwood has been charged by the RFL following his Grand Final clash with Wigan's Blake Green.

Westwood has been ordered to face a disciplinary panel on Tuesday accused of a Grade B punching offence during his side's Old Trafford defeat.

Television replays showed the Wolves star catching Green with a blow to the head, but Westwood later claimed he could not remember the incident.

The Daily Mirror on Monday quoted him as saying: "I didn't really know much about it. I haven't seen it so I don't know what to say.

"I didn't know I punched him. We'll have a look at it and see what the review panel says."

Westwood, who is due to join up with England for a pre-World Cup training camp in South Africa, could now face a ban.

The second-rower scored a try for the Wolves in Manchester, helping to give them a 16-2 lead. However, Wigan hit back with 28 unanswered points to lift the title.

How stupid is the rule that the video ref can't help silverwood out, he can for a way to restart the game,yet cant for a cheap shot that could have cost blake and his team the match.Great performance by him and good to see him over last seasons illness.Top man!

Briers got off because of decent track record with RFL, whats westwoods past like with disciplinar? has he used this seasons EGP?

does your head in watching the replay time and time again when a players laying there sparked out and you hear the ref state he never saw incident when everyone knows the video ref is sat there cleary seeing the same as the sky viewers yet the player stays on.

it's one of the most frustrating things, especially when it appears some players are beyond the reach of the officials during games.

Bloody sure the VR contributed to the Raynor decision when he collided with Tomkins that time.

Regards Westwood, surprised nobody's mentioned the leading arm he hit Green with during the tackle, too. Doubly dastardly, I thought.

Another 2 or 3 tackles had gone on since the incident. therefore the VR cannot go back to that incident to review it. Just the same as if a knock on had happened on tackle 1 andf the try is scored on tackle 5. We have to accept that officals m ss things, how many people watching the game saw the incident as it happened, including them watching on TV ?,

Probably because he throws so many punches during the course of a match.
