| Thought a lot of players just got lost in the occasion, and many of us got carried away with the expectancy of a team that has blown very hot and very cold all season. while the drive home from Wembley was filled with negativity, in the cold light of day I still feel we played ok, many might say I'm mad, but after twenty years I have seen some shocking performances, all be it, by groups of players without the potential that our current squad has. The conditions were the same for both teams, but even with all the silly mistakes we made, with ten minutes to go I still believed that we could win, the defensive effort was enormous to keep us in the game. The gods would just not shine on us, Shauls run deserved a try, and after Yeamans massive hit on Hansen the ball refused to bounce favourably for Briscoe. Those two chances could have left us in front, and in a dream world where we converted these two chances and maybe won the spoils how many people would be asking for an apology. The team has lacked stability in the halfs all season, Miller is still a kid with bags of potential, but he needs a season or two to mature, and Holdsworth has missed half the season injured. I could pick out one or two players that I felt didn't pull their weight, but errors aside, most put in a shift, and while I came away disappointed and feeling "like what could have been", I didn't feel like the players played that badly. Just my opinion mind

The defence was good, but if you think our attacking play was anything other than awful, you should seek medical attention immediately.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings.

| I do not an apology, for what I have been a supporter of FC for too many years and its never been easy.
I know the players are suffering, one of our very young players came back on the coach Sunday unconsolable. So no one should run away with the idea that players either do not care or go out to lose, it happens.
I have said earlier, Wembley came a year early then maybe it was hoped and the young player in question will be a better player next time around.

I agree I probably do need medical attention, but in reality our attack has been p*** poor all season, apart from the odd game we have looked clueless for most of the year, as our stats probably confirm. But to be fair, Wigan created very little in attack also, was that down to the conditions or were they only slightly better than us, cause to be fair we dropped the ball a lot in our own half gifting them a lot of possession in our own half.

| Quote: PopTart "Trev, come on.
From a neutral point of view I thought Hull played with a lot of passion and commitment, and some skill. There were individual errors that cost you but not the whole team and certainly not intended.
You were in the final. Wigan are one of the best in the league at the moment and they were certainly favourites before the game...and it wasn't exactly easy for them.
I know it is frustrating when it seems like the team didn't show their best but I think it is unfair on those players to then demand an apology as if they planned it that way.
The Hull fans I know of old would be supporting their team even harder in the next game to pick them up, not make them feel worse than they already do.
You need to have a word with yourself Trev.'"
Nice post Pop Tart and exactly what I am doing, booking a half day off work and going to Wigan on friday. In any kind of weather, isn't that what its all about ?

Sorry about the abuse you're getting, I agree with you though. I paid a lot of money, spent a long day travelling, got absolutely drenched spending over half the day with soggy feet, all to see what was for me the worst performance of the season. Wigan played better than most are giving credit for, but our performance with ball in hand was woeful. I didn't enjoy my expensive day whatsoever

I feel a lot worse than 85 At least we gave Wigan a game on that day and it was a million miles away from the abject performance we witnessed on saturday

Thank you !
I am not wanting anyone to grovel but the contrast between the thanks we got after the semi final, and the silence we have had since singing our hearts out at wembley is astonishing.
Maybe "apology" isn't the right word but not one article has acknowledged the support we gave on the day. Not even AP has said it.
