| I don't think you'll find there are grounds for sacking him, even if we wanted to.

Not after he beat up that bloke you didn't, he was given a few chances.
He should be sacked, keeping him is setting a bad example to the young fans, it would be a blow, but its the right thing to do.

| Quote: Sheldon "Playing devils advocate.
What would AP get out of sacking Crookes?
We need a winger with Lineham injured, we need on for next season if Briscoe goes.
Should the RFL step in if we did sack him, refusing to let him play for a year? Otherwise we get penalised while an other club can strengthen?'"
To keep him just because lineham is injured is for the wrong reason. But I agree this is why ap has stood by crookes. Give him the best chance possible in the cc.

Most businesses would use the grounds 'bringing the business into disrepute', this covers court cases (usually excludes minor driving offences)

Wouldn't it also count as gross misconduct?

| He has been convicted for assulting a woman and IMO should be sacked.
Unless the club / AP comes out and tells us why he has been harshly dealt with then that's all we have to go on

That can be a tricky one in a case like this, since he never ted some-one in the work place and his actions took place outside his working hours, so not subject to internal disciplinary, however once dealt with in a court of law it can then be dealt with in the work place via bringing the business into disrepute.

and most businesses would fail if challenged at an employment tribunal.

Out of interest do you think he should have been sacked if he had assaulted a man ?

| Could the RFL take it out of AP's hands and stand him down?

No they would not (seen if happen to a fair few posties over the years), it is in your employment contract as it is with most businesses.
Do you think if people get sent down their jobs are left open ? no they are not & it is the same thing, he has been convicted of an offense

| Frankly the sentence is lenient, especeially as he pleaded not guilty and the judge obviously didn't believe a word he had to say.
If he was sacked he could have no complaints.
