| Johnson is injured AFAIK. I certainly don't think he's had the impact that Aspinwall had for us yet but I suppose there's time. He and Pitts were comprehensively smashed by KR on Good Friday.

My early impressions of him are that he's not as good as Aspy. Like you say though there's time and I'd like to see a bit more of him before making a proper judgement.

I said in another thread recently that he doesn't look as big as my memories of him in his first season at Wakey. Could be wrong, but that year I recall him running in harder and punching a few holes. We could do with that.

| Personally I dont think either Johnson or Pitts are big enough to play prop, Pitts seems Ok as a squad player in the backrow, but I have been more impressed with Green and Bowden as props than either of those two.

| Johnson had his best game for us at Wakey. Maybe that's just cos he was more fired up or maybe because he's getting more used to the club.
He's ok but just like Pitts - not big enough.

I'm sure there was another away match earlier in the season (maybe Saints?) when Doc on RH was saying how well he (Johnson) was playing and then fans on here commented about him being one of the standout performers.

It was definitely Saints. His other ex-club, too.

Tend to agree. Although as I say, I seem to remember Johnson being bigger in his early Wakey days so would like to see him bulk up.

Fourth choice prop would be in their seventeen

pitts and johnson aren't good enough to be starting players in a team that has genuine aspirations of success

| Of course you can rely on youngsters if they are good enough, if they weren't good enough they wouldn't be in there!
I remember manly starting with a pair of rookie half backs in Cherry-Evans and Foran, wonder how that's going....

| Johnson's a far better player than Aspinwall, a hell of a lot younger too, which is probably the reason for his inconsistency. Another one that Gentle can coach, which is what he wanted.

aspinwall wasn;t brought in as a 1st choice prop though. For me, johnson doesn't have the physique to be a dominant front rower
