| Quote: EL CAMO "There are exceptions to every rule, picking out older players who haven't retired doesn't prove that players don't retire when they get older any more than Mike Burnett retiring proves that most players retire in their early 20s.
Age brings injuries.'"
A full squad is a large exception though!
Players retire because they can't physically keep up with the game anymore as it becomes too fast for them. Joe Arundel, Richard Owen, Danny Maguire all suffered massive injuries in the last couple of years.
Any sports scientist or physio will tell you there's no correlation between age and injuries, but they do admit that the recovery process can take longer.

| Ellis broke his foot in oz, this is probably similar injury. The only other real time out at wests was a dead leg of epic proportions. Bones and tendons in a conditioned athlete are not going to be stronger than they are now at around thirty, n even beyond. Not much you can do about bones n tendons, comes with the territory.

| Injuries and how his body will stand up to another 3 years of top flight rugby were the only concerns with ellis. Personally, I'd rather have kept manu than sign ellis but I'm sure many will disagree

You make it sound like we had a choice with Manu, we didn't. Ellis was signed to play with him, he decided to leave.

Hate to say but your spot on,before the season I have posted on here manu is better than ellis and 95% of dullers said I had no idea what I was talking about, well I watched ellis back end of last season after his injury and he was a shadow of the great player he once was.
Manu is class and played virtually every game, you would have thought your heirachy may have learnt from previous regimes gaffs with long, dykes etc. !!

Never a choice, regardless of Ellis, Manu wanted to leave.

Well if you insist on calling Hull fans "dullers" people may have blocked you so won't see what you say. Those who haven't done that probably couldn't give a monkeys about your view for similar reasons. And I bet 95% is way off too.

| Im confused. Do you all genuinely believe that older players aren't more likely to pick up more injuries?

So if you think manu is better than ellis, why all the hype about hull being a lot stronger this season, galea, mcdonnell, watts from us crookes, arundle are not a huge improvement on moa, turner etc.Not that your interested but I think your weaker than last year only holdsworth could be a plus but yet to show it.!

| manu was/is a a good player but ellis just edges it in my opinion hes a top pro and shown that on both sides of the world and then at the end of the regular season when manu goes on holiday ellis does it on the international stage just a freak accident bad timing lets keep the faith.

| just a thought on ellis injury.surely if there suspect a break he should have gone for xray straight away, leaving it till monday can surely be dangerous . if you go to hospital or the docs and they suspect a break they send you for an x ray straight away because leaving a break on any bone can lead to problems, just a thought as am not a medical person,

| James Clark @KCCLARKY
Ellis injury not as bad as first feared but still facing spell on sidelines. Not a reoccurrence of injury from last year
