| Quote: Wellsy13 "For those that are saying it's a backwards step or it's just for nostalgia reasons couldn't be more wrong. Just because you prefer sitting and it's safer doesn't mean it's right and the only option.
I far prefer standing. The freedom to move around to a better area if you're stuck with a n0b, or if you want to move to where the atmosphere is, or if you turn up late and want to stand with a group of friends. You can't get that in an unreserved seating area unless you are lucky enough to find spare seats.
The grounds that have standing in (under a roof that is!) I've often found have the better atmospheres. I know of many people that don't go anymore because the KC has been like a morgue at times and they only do away games.
There's nothing wrong or backwards about giving people more options. In fact, it's the exact opposite. Having the option of both would be a forwards step.'"
But if it's the full South Stand given over to it, it's not providing more options, as at the same time it's removing the option for people to sit in the end stand unless you're willing to sit in the first 2-3 rows. I like an end view, about half-way up the stand, and I like to sit. If this idea was brought in, I'd have the following as 'more options' for me:
1) Continue to sit in the same area of the South Stand and see f**k all behind the standing people.
2) Stand for the duration of the game instead.
3) Move to a different stand, for a view I don't like as much, and pay an increased price for the privilege.
Then there's my Grandad and people like him. He can't stand for a full game any more, so he also has options 1) and 3) as above, but I know with certainty he'll pick alternative option number 4) and simply stop going.
This is one of those issues (like alcohol in the stands and Fridays vs. Sundays) that people tend to only see from their own point of view. 'This is what I want, and as such I am unable/unwilling to see why it may be entirely reasonable that it is not available to me.'

I never advocated having the full (or any) of the South Stand, and from what appears to be being discussed, it's part of the East Stand that's on the agenda.
In the event of just the full South Stand being standing (which I wouldn't agree with), they could always section off the North Stand (like for City) so that those that want to sit on the end can still do so.
I'm not an advocate of taking away your options, and the things I've suggested wouldn't.

| FWIW. Seeing as it's a football driven initiative, I'd imagine the area(s) they'd look to trial would be the northern area of the East Stand and the away section within the North Stand. Due to the large volume of standing within these sections @ football matches.

| Standing or sitting is clearly personal preference. I quite like standing at away games, but I also like not having to get to my place within the stadium 30 before kick off to get a good view at home games.
One things for sure, it's generally a better atmosphere when groups are stood together.

I like sitting at home matches and we usually get there in enough time to all sit together.
Equally I quite enjoy standing at places like Leeds, Cas, Wakey and Bratfud.
Just a thought, would admission prices be cut in the standing areas? I doubt it.

Either way, wherever it would be put the people who currently enjoy sitting there would be put out, which just doesn't seem fair to me. Also, I'm just not seeing how providing a small section like you describe will offer all of the benefits you're claiming of standing. If it's small sections you won't really be able to move very far away from people irritating you, and nor will it improve the atmosphere around the ground because there'll still only be the 1 or 2 pockets of standing fans.

Why would (or should) they be?

Because in the days when standing was allowed you paid less to stand than to sit.
At those rugby and football grounds where standing is still allowed you pay less to stand than to sit.

but the standing would be in a combined stand with seating, how would you steward it.
It's a nonsense idea how ever you look at it, the KC is an all seater stadium and should remain so.
(and I was one of the biggest campaigners to have standing when we first moved)

| Dont state the obvious to Standee, he dont like it
But on the flip side, he has a valid point. If people want standing, it will cost to change the set up so why should it be any cheaper?

| build a caged area for the numbnuts in the corner to move to and beer throwers what a good idea!!
this is all about opinion and preference and personally i think moving back to any standing area now would move us back into a yob culture again , seating sucesfully removed MOST of the unruly stuff and should stay that way!!
But i am sure the teenagers and beer chuckers will love it.
I loved the 3rep but those days are a long time ago now.... the KC works just fine as it is so leave it as it is IMO.
however as said we can dicuss it all day but doubtful it will happen

Indeed, imagine the conversation at the infrastructure investment and oversight comitee....
"Mr Asseem Allam"
"Yes, I believe, having tried to hold you to ransom and threatening to move to Melton, The City Council should invest £12m so that we can increase the capacity of the KC stadium by 5000 via installing a safe standing area in part of the East and South stand, the disruption will only affect Hull FC for 4 months and the investment will allow me and my father to get within £30m of breaking even next season"
"No, next question"
It's a total non starter.
He'll be buying Ferriby and moving City there next, oh, hang on.....

| I would'nt see it as a step back if (thats a big if) it did happen because lets face it if we didnt share with a football team and we had our own modern ground like warrington, saints and salford then we would definatly have standing areas.
