| i am sure the rugby league would welcome more people becoming referees enabling them to improve the overall standards,so unless people step forward instead of moaning on here[rightly or wrongly]how do you suggest standards will improve, obviously the guys doing the job now are the best they've got so unless anyone out there could do better and steps forward we are stuck with them.
This is a rant at RL fans in general

How was that match decided by the referee?
Even allowing for the missed forward pass, we were still 14 points up with 10 to go. That match was decided by an inability to tackle one of the slowest wingers in Superleague'"
Perhaps the extra defending we had to do had something to do with that. Wasn't the second half penalty count about 8/0 in Rovers' favour? I know we lack discipline at times, but not to that extent.
I take your point that refs don't necessarily 'decide' the outcome of a game as there are many other factors that can have a bearing on it. A ref can certainly have an undue influence on a game, however, and I think MM is a fair example of this.

Which Salford player was it that pushed the referee away before taking a tap penalty on our 20? Will he be in front of the "judiciary"?

Did you notice the first decision made by the new ref was a scrum to us when the ball came out in the tackle? I'm not sure if it wouldn't have gone the other way with the Mr H.
I thought Hicks started really well and, in fact, a lot of the decisions that we didn't like we're correct. However, where he let himself down was by allowing Salford to play him for a fool. By the middle fo the second half he'd lost control and, imo, is to blame for the couple of blow-ups that occurred finally resulting in a sin-binning after three repeat-offences from Salford (isn't that a yellow-card offence?).

He gave a couple of things our way. Hicks completely lost control and the players played him for a fool.

| I spoke to Jon Sharp last week at Headingly, he's on the ref's judiciary committee and he said he argued with Ian Smith the vid ref regarding the 'try' which cost Catalan the game. He shook his head in dismay at the overall standard of refereeing in Superleague. These ref's really do have some effect on the outcome of games one way or another.

I don't think apart from from the second half kick off which they launched into the East stand he didn't give a single penalty for offside all day, there were times (both teams to be fair) when every player in the defensive line was in front of the ref, but still no penalty.

I really liked it when a kick out on the full was given as a scrum, andd then changed when the players told him.
I hope his injury isn't serious, but I don't want to see him officiate us again.

| Would also like to know why hardly any of the refs take any notice of the muppets with the flags on the touchlines, or more importantly why they employ blind touch judges, because they certainly don't seem to see much. As for yesterdays game it seemed he listened to the Salford players, twice I saw a Salford player speak to the ref and the ref agreed, once putting the Hull player on report. Surely that can't be right.
