Matty Russell back to Wigan confirmed by club
not surprising considering we brought in McGoldrick
Thought he did well considering he was thrown into the team and hes 18

Jason Crookes is the winger that is supposedly part of the 6
personally don't see why we are getting rid of will sharp (wouldn't believed i was typing this a year ago) but maybe Gentle sees something in Crookes'"
maybe we can get crooks on a cheaper contract

probably yeah
wouldn't be surprised if i have never heard of the 6 signings but then we were never gonna sign 6 world class players that everyone knows, but players that PG sees potential in and can turn into great players

So we've signed 2 wingers then? Don't think so.

| Quote: Dettoriman "Apparently, He has the face on that he is been asked to play a structured game. A coach comes in on a 3 year deal, You cannot demand the way the team plays, The coach does that.
And, We aren't gonna get whats fair. Before his disciplinary, We were holding out for 500k+, And if we didn't get it, We had the Man of Steel in our ranks.
Now were probably looking at half that. Or having to play him knowing he wants out, Or drop him and pay his wages for nothing.'"
Have to admit I have a certain amount of sympathy with Cas fans over how this seems to have panned out. I've never liked Chase as a person and I can't say that any of his recent antics have changed that view. I must be one of the few Hull fans with mixed feelings about signing him - I can appreciate that he will bring something we badly need in our side, but I wish we'd been able to come up with a different player to fulfil that need.

The jury is still out for me tbh, I know he is capable of producing some-thing magic though it is worth noting that has not being apparent as much this season as last, though this maybe down to him/team being unsettled. My concerns are around his unpredictable style of play and our teams ability to adapt to this style of play, now don't get me wrong if they do it will be wonderful to watch, I have not being convinced at all watching him play structured rugby at International level so I doubt that will work, also although I like a bit of mongrel I hope not to see the kind of shots he put on earlier in the season which left a bloke with a broken jaw.
Overall though it is a good signing for the club and certainly a statement of intent and players like G.Ellis & Chase will hopefully attract fans back.

| I feel more confident in signing Chase then I did with Sean Long
Remember Chase beating us almost on his own at Cas in 2009
AS for when he plays 'structured rugby for England' Bet
Lets be honest the National team is a bit hit and miss and only play about 3 or 4 games with not a lot of training time, with a good pre season under his belt and after a few games he might fit really well in a 'structured team' but hope he still shows flashes of brilliant stuff of the cuff that can take a team by surprise

Fair point, and I agree it may take time and hopefully the best will come next season when we virtually field a new team! don't get me wrong if all goes to plan I will be cheering the loudest

Another of the few here, already having a poor season at Cas and bringing him to Hull puts a massive amount of pressure on him. We do need creativity and he has that in spades, but if he is playing to a different tune to the rest of the team all the creativity in the world is pointless. Now I would be a lot happier if he were to be partnered by Brough

As others have said, the issue for me is the ability of the rest of the team to dance to his tune, so to speak. But if we get him, he'd be the first FC player in a long time that would be a draw in himself because of what he can do on the ball. We've wanted an X Factor player for years. We're linked with the current MOS with just that, and in an environment with reducing levels of available talent. We're just a mid table team. In that context to have bagged Gareth Ellis, and be close to getting Chase and maybe even Brough as well is staggering.
