I wouldn't. We're a new team with new structures and and a new partnership at HB, I'd rather they get the chance to get more of an understanding - it'll be vital for big games.

Well done to the lads. Still mean in defence we showed glimpses of what we might achieve in attack if the rate of progress of the team continues. Granted Widnes are odds on to finish bottom and rightly nobody is getting carried away but the direction is good and there's plenty of further improvement.

Massive praise for Mr Tickle, Houghton and Andy Lynch and mention to Brett Seymour who had his best game with ball in hand so far for me. Defensively he must be one of the best halves in the competition to boot.

Good games from tickle, lynch and manu. Seymour seemed to be involved in most tries and was good to see bowden get more minutes who didnt look out of place in the first team. Also houghton looks like he's kicked on from last season.

Real good performance from the boys yesterday, bar the last 15 mins. First time our 1, 6, 7 and 9 have all clicked together in attack. Some of Seymour's passing was superb, thought Ellis played better then previously but we looked better with Horney IMO.

Happy days!

Twitter - @MaddyHFC:

Cracking display yesterday. Lynch, Manu and Tickle were superb, Houghton controlled everything and McKinnon just linked everything together.

I was also pleased Ellis got some gametime in the halves and he did fairly well I thought. The pass he gave for ther last Tickle try led to a great flowing move.

agree the pack completely dominated all afternoon and the backs getting combinations together for a couple of great tries.
Ellis played well just tried to push it a bit too much at the end with a no look pass with no one in support.
I thought Bowden did well also when he came on.

Agree although Ellis did well and his movement with the ball offers something different to Horne. 2 or 3 of Horne's grubbers in the first half in NW corner were superb kicks and he was a big part of getting us well on the front foot early in the game.

Another game of progress, pretty pleased with how our season is unfolding.

On saying that, we played for 30 minutes in the first half and 20 in the second. Whilst we played well for those spells, I’m a bit disappointed at the way we took our foot off the pedal. Don't think we handled the break in play well, it spoilt our rhythm but we shouldn't let that happen. Hope Gentle's not happy about it, either.

I always think there's a bit of difficulty in commenting on how players have performed in blowout games like that, as in all honesty as well as we played for most of the match, Widnes were equally awful. The first 2 tries were well worked from us, but the next 2 showed up some terrible defence from them, and that was the case all day. Some standouts for me were Lynch again, obviously Tickle, I thought Bowden did well in a decent-sized stint, Sharp had another good game, we saw a typical Houghton display for 60 minutes (Heremaia can't get fit quick enough IMO), and McKinnon was possibly the best of the lot. Seymour also looks better with every game to me, which is to be expected, even if it's happening slightly slower than we'd hope.

Mainly positives, but a particularly annoying negative with the way we fell away. We played some good stuff and racked up a score though, so maybe I'm just being a grumpy bugger.

I thought the forwards were superb , There definitely laying the foundations for the halves to work behind. As said by other posters above , The only blip on that performance was the last 10 minutes.

I said before the game that even if he played well 1 more match is a step in the right direction but not proof he's the answer. I thought he did little wrong but couldn't particularly impress because the opposition didn't really test him. That's not a criticism as I thought all of the 3/4's were in the same boat, I only mentioned Sharp because he took a couple of kicks well, returned them impressively, and produced a lovely jump and knock back for Whiting's try.

I've always said Turner is very good going forward, and that's pretty much all he had to do yesterday, so I learnt nothing new. Having said that both tries did happen to come down his side. I haven't seen the highlights yet and I sit in the South West corner, pretty much as far away from them as possible, so I'm not blaming him for them, just pointing something out.

Would you believe it. Its also the side that Tom Briscoe plays but I notice you haven't drawn him into this conversation.

Listening to Gentle in his post match interview he did mention that although they did some good stuff and executed some of the plays they have been working on picked up on the fact we only played for 60 mins and said he wasn't happy with that but can understand why they did but will work on that.

The more I hear from Gentle after the games the more impressed I am with him as a Coach.
