Quote: Staffs FC "The replay on the big screen straight aftewards suggested the same. That's why I asked what Tony Smith's disappointment was. Perhaps he would prefer that Ganson had agreed with the TJ and given the wrong decision. Poor comment by Smith IMO.'"

Smith has always been a whining twit when his side gets beaten and Mr. Smug when they win. I have pretty much zero respect for the man TBH. No class whatsoever.

just watched it again, linesman does seem to indicate a goal line drop out, must've been the angle of the camera

Which means that pretty much the only person who thought there was a knock-on was a certain Tony Smith.

Quelle suprise.

Odd one. If Briscoe did touch the ball then he was in the field off play and it would have been a handover but non of the officials called that.

Think Smith is over egging the situation and looking more and more like a right whinging #### IMO.

Just watched his effort of a press conference on the Sky roundup program. Pretty much backs up your point.

briscoes first touch was to ground the ball, it was evans who touched the ball twice in the air

i wonder if smith will come out and say he got it wrong!? don't think we should hold our breath!

Quote: UllFC "Thought he was a bit off the pace all round, and gave some poor decisions for both sides.

the worst was when he was going to give the scrum to Wire near the south stand in the first half, until the linesman ran on to tell him he had got it totally wrong and made Ganson change his mind.'"

That was the linesman that made that call, not Ganson. You could see Ganson look to him, and he signalled scrum to Wire. It was the in-goal judge that came on and over ruled him. 3 decisions like that the touch judge made (including where he gave a drop out instead of a try and was ignored thank God!).

I thought Ganson was OK personally and I think some people are looking for excuses instead of praising what was a great performance from both teams today.

Quote: Staffs FC "First up we cost ourselves the game with 2 really sloppy plays that gifted Warrington a point.

With regard to Ganson that was what I call classic 'Top 4' refereeing. All was fairly even until Hull went in front early second half. After that every 50/50 call went to the 'Top 4' team and we got precisely nothing. In particular the penalty that was pinged against us first half for a ball steal on Riley but similar incidents for O Meley and Mckinnon (first one not the second fair knock out) were deemed as knock ons. His gut reaction was to give Wire head and feed after their blatant knock on.

Not enough it seems for the Alex Ferguson of RL Tony Smith who rather than comment on a fine game instead tries to claim his team has been the subject of a gross injustice. Was he sat in the south east corner ?

rlhttps://www.sportinglife.com/rugbyleague/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME

I think he would have been far better complimenting both sets of players on a good game. If he prefers Australia he could always go back there.'"

Problem with the 'Top 4 Teams' is the players tend to ref the game and get away with it, we do it and we would get penalised for dissent.

Worst decision for me was the one where Briscoe kicked inside to Whiting, Westwood knocks the ball backwards towards his full back but Mckinnon gets there first and gets tackled a yard from the line. That should have been back to 1 as soon as westwood touched the ball!

Pretty much my thoughts. A bloke said to me after the game that Ganson had cost us the win. I said that I thought that Ganson had done ok and that it was us gifting them 3 tries that cost us the win. He looked at me as if I was stupid.

Like you say, its easier to blame the ref.

Just seen the trys, the Briscoe try ceratinly looked dodgy, Ganson never even consulted the linesman who right up with play. Awful refereeing!

Awful touch judging.

Can you explain to me how you think there was any possibility it was a drop out, and I'll explain why you're wrong.

Where did I mention a drop out?

You see a player score a try from 20m out without a hand been laid on him, before the ref points to the spot, they look at both touch judges to see if they are any problems, then they award the try.

In this case he chose not to consult the linesman who also had a good view of the incident and listen to his veiw on things.

So am I now wrong?
