| Brett Turner was a really good prospect who we sent on his way He was much better than Lee or Hall. Its a pity he wasnt focused. Having said that those of us who watched Tommy Lee and Scott Moore rip the Aussies apart really believed we had the best young halfback going. Just look waht the club did to him. Turned him into an average utility player.

Brett is on trial at York atm, after spending the last few years playing alongside Mark Hewitt at west hull.

You can't turn a top class half back into an average utility player. If Lee was destined to be a top player he would be one. It's the same as the old Craig Hall argument. He wasn't turned into a turnstile, he was one all along.

I think Lee's biggest problem was the size of his head,he beleived his own hype, wether or not that could have been nipped in the bud and managed better i don't know. But what i've seen of him in his early days he thought he was a Hollywood superstar,i also think there were issues with his ability to follow a game plan when he was younger, wether or not that was down to his over confidence i don't know.

I still think we only gave him a new deal at the time because of all the young girls buying shirts and having Mrs Lee emblazoned on the back!

| Quote: Mrs Barista "Can't really think of anyone tbh.
Had a quick scan through slstats - think these were roughly in that age group when at the club?
Craig Poucher
Matt Schultz
Richard FletcherMatt Crowther (retired I think through bad injury)
Paul Parker
Matt Donkin
Graeme HorneLiam Higgins
Peter Lupton
Alex Wilkinson
Dwayne Barker
Andy BaileyDanny Hill
Kirk Dixon
Matty Dale
Anthony Thackeray
Scott Wheeldon
Nathan Freer
Ashley Thackeray
Josh Hodgson
Dennis Touffour
Tommy Lee
In hindsight given our injuries in the halves consistently over the last few years, should have kept Lupton as cover. Kirk Dixon maybe? Wheeldon for Dowes?
Players I regret releasing/leaving are Garreth Carvell, Danny Brough and Paul Cooke (from a playing perspective only, obviously).'"
The ones highlighed don't come into the age range suggested when they were released or were not home grown.

He's going good, first team regular and plays anywhere in the pack really, be interesting to see if he plays more at prop now Tony Tonks has gone to Hudds. Think things are looking good at Fev in general with both on field and off field progression now.

Good stuff.
I guess though when all said and done, it seems that not one of our young players in the last 6/7 years we have regretted going.

Our biggest regret is keeping hold of players to long that clearly weren't going to make it because they were from Hull and inturn not promoting someone else.
