Depends how you define main sport. Also, you have to remember there is some pretty big teams outside of the Premiership e.g. having Leeds, Derby, Leicester and Forest in the P.L instead of Wigan, Bolton, West Brom and Blackburn would no doubt increase the average by a lot whereas I doubt the AFL has that 'strength in depth'.

| Afl will from next season have 2 clubs in NSW, Qld, SA, WA and 10 in VIC.
Nrl has 1 in VIC, 3 in Qld, 1 in NZ and 11 in NSW.
Afl beats Nrl heavily in attendances and members.
Nrl hammers afl in tv ratings but afl get a bigger tv deal.

I was just trying to point out that although the top division is well attended, that doesn't mean it is anywhere close to the popularity of football in this country as if you had, for instance, one club in Yorkshire they'd have an average attendance of 80,000 (IMHO).
Also, it depends what you define main sport as: The sport most people play? The sport most people attend? The sport most people watch on TV?

| I don't think he was saying that, but I'll let him clarify it.
It would be a combination of them all.

What English clubs need to stop doing is what Wigan has just done - import their backline players. If clubs became committed to raising the talent we do have then we may just be able to cobble together an international native side. But until that happens we will be playing players out of position (never works) and making do with players who aren't quite up to the necessary standard.'"
Do you mean like Meli, Hohia, Lafranchi, Soliola, Flannery, Perry and Puletua (all good YOUNG English players)

How about sh@gging?
That must be more of a sport than fishing.

| Hi. My first time on here. Went to watch my user name at the Boulevard so have been around for a fair while and look forward to contributing on your forum. When I came to Austalia in 1968 the population was 12 million and today it is almost double that ( close to 23 million). It was 17million in 1990.
