I don't understand why people think this. If thats how it works wouldn't we have more chance of keeping him, with Jack still being here, Tom already being in the team and knowing all the players. And also the way things are looking we're only going to get better over the next few years.

The reason I say Rule is because in the past he has strongly hinted that he has been involved in contract negotiations for players in terms of recruitment and retention. It is possible that someone else looked after junior contracts however if that person effectively worked for Rule then that still wouldn't reflect well on Rule.

At least when you release players like Burnett, Williams and so on at least we have had the chance to see them and make a decision on thier potential.

We have all heard the talk coming out of the club about the potential of the Briscoe Brothers and when Tom emerged we all had high hopes of seeing all 3 of them break through to be established Super League players.

To lose Luke before we have had chance to make a judgement on his potential is possibly why people are a little concerned.

Also its annoying he has gone when its clear from the statement that the club wanted him, If the club valued and wanted to keep him then as far as I am concerned I wanted to keep him.

We are speaking theoretically now but if in 5 years time Luke is an outstanding player in his position and out of contact and we need a player for that position and he wants to come, I would have him back in a heart beat.

Depends on what exactly has gone on. The way the article reads is that Hull were in the middle of normal contract negotiations and everything was proceeding smoothly when out of the blue Briscoe comes up with an alternative offer from Leeds and says he wants to leave without further negotiation. Not much to be done at that point if true.

The subtext about how we treat our younger players is more concerning, and I'm glad that will be addressed. It's not clear if that is directly related to the value put on contract offers or whether it's more the overall environment that could be improved to instil more loyalty/desire to stay with us.
