Hi Irish T, there's always a "Where's Whiting gonna play this season?" thread just because he has no dedicated position.
He always comes good in the end though and pins down a spot somewhere.
For me Whiting was MOM for general play last night and I would have him 'somewhere' on my team sheet every week before anyone else.
The blokes a class act in many respects.
Oh, and we'll be behind you lot next week no worries.
Cheers.

| Just watch the last 5 mins at Saints when he moves inside and sets up that fantastic last try. He would be a great LF there's no doubt about it.
Be interesting to see where he plays on Friday with Tickle and Fitz out. I'd play him and Westerman in the back row. He won't though.

| If Whiting is to be moved into the back row he'd need a off season to make the transition, if the move happened Washy would a pointless retention.

That was an excellent try created by some very silky skills.
Whiting was my man of the match: he made some telling defensive contributions when it mattered early on.

| I think Washy looks a bit better since any expectation of him being a play maker have been removed. Did a good job for us on Saturday but not convinced he's worth keeping.

as is often said, depends what he can be replaced with, I doubt he's on a huge salary and is a good squad member.

This could be his big chance if selected to start at 13 against Warrington.
Props: Dowes, Radford, O'Meley, Moa
2nd: Tickle (?), Westerman, Manu
13: Washbrook
Remember, we have to leave room for Sharp on the bench.

If we can't find another backrower and don't want to move Whiting then he'd be acceptable.
Hopefully we'll see Cunningham and Green emerge.

| I'm willing to bet that Whiting's excellent contribution this season won't stop the usual thread before the start of next season stating that he's only a squad player at best and not good enough to hold down a starting slot. Hope he does get player of the year as I think he's under rated by many and a little recognition wouldn't go amiss.
I reckon next year is the time to try Whiting in the front row as that's about the only position he hasn't played yet.

Completely agree, loose forward every time for me.

Whiting was my man of the matchHe got stood up, then beaten for pace on the outside. By Youngquest, ffs.
He's not a specialist winger, he's a bench player imo. He'd probably be 3rd choice (more likely 4th) Loose Forward and would need a lot of bulking up to play 2nd row efficiently and for any amount of time, something he's tried and failed to do before. He'll always play 20 games a season, he'll never have a settled role. That's no bad thing imo.
