One of the best British players of his generation.
I was delighted when we signed Sean Long, believed he was worth a 2 year contract at the time, that he would be the general/on field leader/play maker/tactical kicker we desperately lacked and still lack, but it hasn't worked out.
Will be interesting to see where he ends up and how successful or otherwise he turns out to be in a caching role.

suprised given the expoits he got upto in his private life that he lasted as long ashe did tbh, desparate signing in a vain atempt to put bums on seats when Saints new he was finished. Wasted 2 years of a massive amount of the Salary cap on the guy,big mistake.

| Betting scandal, drinking exploits (the one where he broke into some-ones house and went to bed was particularly amusing  )...drunk whilst playing in big games....leaving the International team high & dry and coming home....Are just a few, there are many more.
The most amusing one for me was when Nobby laid on Longy bed which Longy had peed after been on the lash 
Hence why I would label Longy a character of the game and not particularly a legend, hardly a role model was he. |

Not a role model for sure but one of the best players to ever play in British RL
good luck to him in what ever he does in the future, if he had stayed injury free i believe FC would have faired much much better
