Indeed, there wasn't a lot to be gained by releasing further detail.

| Quote: ChrisH "I agree your sentiments but the rfl are hardly going to agree with Agar and let him off are they? Question is what would you do about the current situation? Employ new refs? New controller? Pay them more ? Pay them less? Go back to part time? Have two refs? Whatever it is that needs doing an outburst by a coach however justified isn't going to resolve anything. The clubs have the ability to force the changes but seem reluctant to do so. Never quite understood why. Perhaps it's because as soon as a referee is criticised "you do it then" is always thrown back.'"
I think the problem is the lack of top refs and at the moment they are not going to please everyone all the time but it all comes down to a lack of consistency which seems to be the major the problem. The RFL have had plenty of time to sort it out but i do agree it wont be sorted out overnight.Maybe they should open up some kind of refs acadamy and stop tinkering with the bylaws of the game every season, putting added pressures on the refs and confusing everyone else.

| Quote: Ian P "That is all you are ever going to hear publically anything else will have been done behind closed doors. The fine is in line with previous judgements handed down and sends out a clear message about abusing officials. Players at the youngest level are taught to respect the officials, our sport has a good record on this, we are not football. The club has its own channel of complaint and that should have been used in this case and any others that crop up from time to time. Whilst I can understand Richards outburst in regard to the Mr Childs ability to ref the game, I can and will not condone it he knows the rules. All the outburst did was make it nearly impossible for the RFL to take action against Mr Childs. The RFL have left the carpet lumpy for sure, but perhaps for all the best reasons in this case we do not need to know all the facts surrounding the case.
Perhaps everyone will learn a lesson from it and move on now.'"
Well said Ian.
No matter how bad a coach or club thinks a referee is, there is a clear method for making their feelings known. Publicly slating an official in an abusive manner is bringing the game into disrepute and cannot be condoned or even ignored, no matter what the circumstances.
It is a problem recruiting and developing referees anyway, public abuse from a Superleague coach will not help that matter at all. What right does any speccie, club official or player think they have to personally abuse any referee?

What about consistency from players & coaches?
When are they going to consistently play by the rules and avoid making forward passes, knock-ons etc etc etc?

of course it is acceptable to bemoan a woeful performance for someone supposedly qualifies in the art of refereeing, Child ruined that game and as a paying spectator I have every right to tell him my thoughts, if you have a bad meal in a restaurant you can refuse to pay at the end, at the KC, once you're in, you're f'd!

No .............
This is RL not the other game, we are above all this sort of thing. People have bad games and sure he had a bad game, people cook bad meals from time to time. Most times you argue with the waiter, not the chef as this would lead to confrontation and he wroks with some truly amazing tools of trade.
There is a chain of complaint for speccies is to the RFL direct, the clubs have there own route. The RFL work for the clubs afterall and its everyones interest to get it right, Mr Childs could do with some input and will get it.

If I have a bad meal I ask to speak to the Chef, he cooked it, not the waiter. The RFL have no previous for ever doing anything other than protecting the referees, no matter how poor they are.
I, and everyone else, has a right to complain.

The chef is probably delighted to meet the complainant in person.
You'll have all manner of surplus ingredients in your next dish.

I wouldn't do it somewhere I hadn't been before for that very reason, I'd just not go back, but I have spoken to chefs on a number of occasions and, bar one, they have always been greatful for the criticism, so long as it is constructive.
Anyway, talk about thread drift, apologies.

You can't eat Italian much, saying the pasta was undercooked to an Italian could get very nasty
There is a complaint route for us to use and I would like to think that this game perhaps more then most does listen to its core supporters more then others. With this incident as with others similar the RFL where duty bound to stand behind the official in line with the rules. By complaining in the manner he did Rich broke the rules and made any sort of FC protest nul and void.
Hull FC made no official protest about the event, that speaks volumes. I know where you are coming from and I was also frustrated that day but most of us can not vent our feelings direct to the person concerned, good job too .

I wasn't, for one second, condoining Agars actions, but you and cod'ead were suggesting we have no right to complain, as customers, I believe we do.
