Certainly Tom's defensive positioning is still not what it could be and he's been susceptible under the high ball on occasion.'"

Scott Donald and Pat Richards English?

I think Briscoe is already better than Raynor and Calderwood.

Neither of them could score trys like Briscoe does.

Quote: suedehead. "It was Briscoes poor read that let Fox get away, it was only right he chased back to correct that. Phelps coming across caused fox to check his speed and line of running, great fullback play.'"

well said - thanks to great covering from Phelps Fox didn't score - Tom B wouldn't have caught him in a millon years otherwise - saying that, thought Briscoe looked lively as did the whole team in contrast to the lacklustre performance in France.Well done Longy - thought Whiting should have been MOM

I thought Briscoe's smartest piece of play in the game was the bundling of Fox into touch after Fox's 'voluntary tackle'. It showed great intelligence to just hover above Fox and wait for him to regain his feet before shovelling him over the line.

Top marks for Bentham too for allowing the play, other refs would've blown for a second effort.

We also tried it the far corner when Latus? caught one and hit the deck.

Unless we start challenging for trophies in the next 12-18 months we have no chance of keeping him

I also believe that our board's valuation of him will be way below what other teams would be willing to offer. Their thinking is probably along the lines of: "well if he goes, we'll just shove Jack in there, the plebs will never know the difference"

Don't think that's the case at all. He seems to really like it at Hull and trophies or not he could easily choose to extend his deal.

You mean Phelps did exactly what he's supposed to do after all he is the full back. Also Fox would still have scored if Briscoe hadn't tackled him as he'd stepped inside Phelps and was heading for the try line.

Well Fox had a head start over Briscoe so I would not expect him to be caught, a bit like Menzies last week, you know the incident you have constantly banged on about all week.

He did say English to be fair mate. Not sure Scott Donald was ever as good as Briscoe is now, to me he was just a finisher.

I would have Raynor, Calderwood and Carney above Briscoe right now but Briscoe will overtake them I feel in the next few years. He is getting smarter as a few plays yesterday showed, the Fox chase and the Fox into touch incident. Still needs to be better under the high ball and needs to support better.

Quote: forevafaithful "you clearly did not watch the game........briscoe chased...then came inside as he knew phelps was coming across to tackle fox so briscoe backed up phelps incase he missed which he did(sort of) briscoe then tackled fox and stopped the try.....great thinking from an outstanding player'"

Absolutely spot on..Phelps was showing Fox the outside he didn't fancy it so came inside, Phelps slowed him as he was coming across the park just enough for Briscoe to catch him. well worked move.

Tom was actually gaining on Fox and might have just caught him even without Phelps' cover tackle.
