When he left Hull to go to Leeds was it Hulls decision or did he leave Hull for a better playing deal. I can't remember now, it was a long time ago. I can't even remember the year to be honest.

He was subjected to approaches by Leeds whilst on the GB tour down under in 1987 (despite being under contract to us). Surprise surprise when he came back he said he didn't want to play for Hull anymore because he preferred to play for Leeds.
After being "on strike" for a while we reluctantly sold him to Leeds.

Paying Wakefield a fee when they where in financial difficulties is not the same as unsettling a player whilst he is away on international duty, unsettling a player to the extent that he comes back and goes on strike, that's enough reason to dislike the guy, then we look at his actions as a L**ds player, both as a player and in his private life and the reasons continue to stack up.

And how much of that fee do you think Wakefield actually got. We never helped Wakefield out at all as they were already close to a takeover. We were acting in our own selfish best interest by ripping their main play maker from the team when an opportunity rose. Same as Leeds with Schofield. It's so long ago I can't believe people still hold such a grudge against this guy.

i'll never forget the first game against leeds after the schofield sale, we had also sold a heartbroken lee crooks because we needed the money and when the leeds team ran out the threepenny was chanting crooksy give us a wave, which he did to a massive ovation from the crowd, then the threepenny sang at top voice 'schofield give us a wave', so schofield looks up at the threepenny and raised his arm to salute the fans, with that the full (old wooden) threepennies, did the w@nker sign at him whist screaming aaaaaaarrrrggggggghhhhhh! schofield then refused to play down that side of the pitch and never did in future visits either, but many players were petrified of that stand

He left and it was not a Happy ending - he wanted away and I think he may have left before a fee was agreed with Leeds (No Contracts in those days) He was and always will be one arrogant B. He thinks he is the only expert on RL - he maybe right but he is lacking in any humility and Man Management skills - No way would any-one playing for Barrow would listen to him.

The administrator was managing Wakefield and trying to make sure none of their other creditors pettitioned for bankruptcy, us paying a fee will have gone some way to enabling them to continue trading until the sale was finalised.
