We're coming to make some noise!: |
|
| Quote: east hull FC fan "One look at your clubs recent history shows that I would rather the council invested in Icelandic banks again. You CAN'T AFFORD to pay it back until you average 10k attendances at least.
We would be able to offer greater facilities, we'd be making more from sponsorship, we'll have a facility that can be used 52 weeks of the year and not 15 weeks maximum. At the moment Craven Park is a Rugby League stadium that is around 22 years old, it was poorly designed and only designed for a purpose of a place for spectators to sit or stand. What we are trying to do now is make it into a place that can be used like the KC for a whole range of things. The money we pay back is going to be pretty small considering the length of the loan and the fact it is being shared with numerous other companies. Judging on the excitment of our BOD the South stand plans could be released at some point over the next 12 months and apparently it is like nothing else in the area. So with all this in mind there is no reason why we cannot start to average a 10k crowd while having the corporate boxes full every week and all profit goes into Hull KR's pocket and not shared among anyone else. You read far too much into HKR's finances, they are losing an amount that is pretty standard for a club in this league, they are losing less than some clubs that have been in the league longer, we lost more because we were paying over the odds for players not worth half of what they were getting. As these contracts are ending we are bringing in bigger and better players in the hope that success will draw another few thousand fans out of the woodwork. A high risk gamble but one that is proven to work if you have the facilities (proven at Hull FC)
We were given assurances (and a pretty lengthy lease) when we moved, if we were adversely affected by any sale I'd expect us to be compensated. Also, I never mentioned anything about a new stadium, thanks.
I agree. I do not expect anyone to kick you out, I do not expect any new stadium to be built and I do not ever think Hull will move from the KC unless it is replace in which you will move to whatever it is replaced with. Only time I would see you move is if a buyer came in and wanted Hull to have their own ground so they could make more profit.
I agree.
Firstly, if it was worked into the deal that the Allams paid for the stadium there'd be feck all you could do.
Secondly, if you offered me shares in a company you'd invested in and i'd refused, you then went on to sell that investment to move elsewhere would you offer me anything? No.
Quite right, if the Allams bought you a stadium there is nothing we could say about the matter, however if the council then took an amount much less than the value of the stadium not only HKR fans but the whole City would be up in arms because the money was for EVERYONE and not just the two sporting clubs. Only way around this would be if the Allams built a further community stadium on a smaller scale and gave it to the city as a gesture of good will, the council could then offer you guys to play there and again us here in the East could say nothing.'"
I infact would like nothing more than for you guys to move into a purpose built stadium. The Boulevard was a vibrant, noisy place to visit, players hated being there especially wingers who had more than their fair share of abuse. With this kind of atmosphere we could get the real derby feeling back into the game instead of this ladedar football stadium malarky that has no atmosphere and no heart.
Tell you what I bet your players today wouldn't have dared not perform had they had to endure the abuse your threpenny stand would have given them!

| This is never going to happen, and even as a bluff to the council it's a pretty poor one.

| With the council leadership about to change soon this is a final tilt at trying to force a decision his way. Even if he raises the money, gets planning permission and gets it built how does he get out of the user agreement. He is tied to that for the remainder of the twenty five year lease whatever he does.
I can see City fans being really pleased with a move miles away, Melton Tigers anyone ............lol

| As has already been pointed out, the KC cost £46m 10 years ago. I don't like the sound of a £60m sports village and 40K stadium. Cheap plastic seats and crap facilities, or a huge overspend. Either way its not a good idea.
Just an excuse for them to walk round a field looking important.

| Not going to happen. The cost would be prohibitive and would face massive objections from residents.
That the council owns the KC gives peace of mind to fans of both Hull FC and Hull City.
Can you imagine how much worse City's recent financial mess would have been if they had owned the KC? Far, far, far worse.

| Sounds very similar to the Darlington fc scenario with George Reynolds. He built a 25k stadium on the edge of the town, and their crowds were and still are around 2000!!!! He was very much a media whore, just like the allams(and justin )

| Quote: nick hkr "Are you really going to continue going on about a loan from HCC? Get it into that head of yours, Rovers and partners are going to have to PAY BACK the money we have borrowed.
This city voted these councillors in, if they decide to sell the community stadium why should they hand you cash to build a new stadium? it wasnt them that built it in the first place and you agreed to move from the Boulevard. Nobody elses fault is it? (Your logic not mine).
We refused to use the stadium just as much as your fans would refuse to move to Melton. We are an East Hull team and should not be expected to move to a West Hull home. The council knew we would refuse but had to be seen to offer the oportunity even though it would have made it very difficult given the rules about playing a match the night before a football game.
Basically if you were to accept a new 20k stadium from the council they would have to at least offer us a similar deal. If it were to be built at say Costello do you honestly think they could again offer us use of the stadium given East Hull has little enough as it is?'"
correct me if i am wrong but the first site disgust for the kc was in east hull (leads rd sutton rd ) before they built on it

| Not a bluff according to Burnsy. Gone beyond initial thoughts - preliminary discussions with East Riding Council? Might have missed some of it though.

| Hopefully they'll buy the KC, and the council will use the money to build us a new RL-purpose stadium for us. If Rovers want the council to spend money on them, they'll have to be willing to give up their ground and pay rent to the council. Is that something they want to do considering that's the one thing they hark on about that they don't have to do?
Would love to see us at our own 18-20k ground with terracing. The atmosphere would be so much better.

| Cant happen, he cant afford to buy HCFC out of the very long lease they & us are tied into with SMC , even if he has his fingers in that pie.Its bluster to get his own way on buying the KC.City are fairly buoyant at the min but IF it goes Pete Tong how quick will their gates drop? No doubt Mr A will be providing a free park & ride.
