Quote: Standee "An end to "on report"'"

Or at least a sin-binning. If it's gone on report it must be because the referee thought that something was wrong. That way at least Bailey would spend sone time off the pitch due to his dirty play because the disciplinary panel always seem to think that what he did was accidental.
Quote: Standee "back to "proper" scrums'"

Ah one of my favourites - competitive scrums. This would mean different sizes and shapes of players with different skill sets. You wouldn't see a scrum-half running to set a scrum if he thought he might have to line-up in the front row. We'd probably beat the Aussies as well because they never could win the ball in the scrums... never happen though, unfortunatley because the scrums would just take up too much of the game.
Quote: Standee "video/panel of 3 referees at every game'"

That can be referred to during the match even if we can't see what's going on from in the crowd - this might help with the "on report" m'larky as well.
Quote: Standee "decent beer at the KC'"

You might as well wish for a billion quid and world peace whilst you're at it

I would like to see clubs being allowed to have 2 or 3 local trained players (especially under the age of 22) given their first 'year' in ESL, off the salary cap.

I would like to see the RFL have a team of 'specialist' coaches, that clubs can hire in.

Quote: Standee "Not possible, has to have a %ge unreserved because of the license,
They'll be allowing beer in seats next season.
see previous

He who pays the piper, and all that.
again, Sky are in charge, they need at least 3 televised games for the last round.

So, you want to breach the Human Rights act, fair enough.

Why? how is that fair on the other fans of RL?
Again, WHY? there is no real appetite for SL out of the heartlands.

What would I like to see?

An end to "on report"
back to "proper" scrums
video/panel of 3 referees at every game
decent beer at the KC'"

Oh how I love your little one liners that add nothing to debate.

Firstly West Stand is all reserved. Tell me why this can't happen in a stand that is pretty much always fuly populated ? I don't see how it will affect the attendance. You simply make all the unresered reserved and charge the same as the current unreserved price on the basis that the view is not as good as the central section. This happens at the theatre, some cinemas, other stadiums etc so shouldn't create any problems.

I am not so sure you will see beer in the seats next year. My opinion I accept.

Last games of the season. Not sure if you have Sky but as I do I may help you. There is a little red button which allows the viewer to choose a game of their choice. They also have 4 channels showing sport so may be able to show more than one. But lets not split hairs about it.
I also feel that a little give and take with regards to a 6 week rule is not too much to ask from the paymasters though I do accept they call the shots.

Human Rights Act I know all about thats why I said self regulation. But don't allow me to tell you to fully read a thread before you comment.

A 4 nations match should be a priority for the SMC after last seasons debacle. 20,000 + RL fans regularly watching the game in the city how can us having a game be unfair to other fans. Or would you rather it be at CP ?

As for appetite outside the heartlands. Many people in the south where I hail from watch "live" sport on TV. Thats why the game was so popular for TV audiences in the 70,80 and 90s. Did you see the Eddie Waring documentary. The GB / Australia test series in the 90s had a big following in the south as it was on National TV. I doesn't manifest itself into people watching the sport in a stadium but it will certainly assist with sponsorship. It may well manifest itself into people playing which as a sport we are increasing rapidly in the areas away from the heartlands. If people are playing then I would suggest there is an appetite for the game. Or are you just looking at Quins crowds and assuming that no one gives a hoot for the game?
The current format of it going national at 4 in the morning is totally pointless. The BBC clearly have some kind of appetite for the sport due to CC coverage, so why not have a highlights package at a time on a Sunday on BBC2 when it can attract a decent following.

I would certainly like a ref in the stand who can review play at all games. The clubs have video technology and replay action as it happens I am sure the RFL could do the same for all games. Ok we might not get as good a picture as Sky games do due to lack of cameras but it might assist in a small way.

I agree to some extent on scrums but they play such a small part of the game now that it hardly seems worth the effort. Lets just have a tap re-start and do away with them altogether. If we are to have them though I like the idea of the first 6 to form (as is the case when stopping the clock) are the 6 that "contest" the scrum.

I also wish for some consistency and transparency with the disciplinary panel. Its one area of the sport which is a total joke. Letters of caution, final warnings, bans over turned, even some up every month but never banned. Sort it RFL.

Looking at some of the rule changes reminds me of American football, more officlals then players and games lasting hours due to long scrums.

Sky pay the sport and they will demand and get what they want first, if they want four matches at the last round they will get it.

Making the East stand fully reserved will only drive punters away, so we don't get a full stadium for the Derby, big deal. Many fans like and have always liked the ability to decide on the day if they are going to a match, down the pub or staying for overtime down at work. It does not make them less of a fan for that, thats what they prefer and why alter a system that works because some people like the idea of making the East an elitist stand for pass holders only.

I think we have only had one full derby match so far and filling the stadium maybe helps get a few people moist it does sod all for me. The last derby may as well been empty stand in both East and west as the atmosphere was like a graveyard, we should look at ways to improve that first. The whole matchday experience seems to have taken on a second class look, with loud music, a crappy announcer, all booming out from a PA system that is either too loud or too quiet and a large inflatable bouncy ball. Its boring, tired out and does little to keep the kids interested let alone any sober adults.

The drink ban should stay at the end of the season, events have proved that some people can not be trusted to act in a decent manner. We have got this far with very little trouble inside the KC why risk a heavy fine and an incident that will do us and the whole game huge damage. Its not as if FC benefit much from the sale of beer, pies and other goodies ( sic) , SMC get rich so you can see why they want it .

Basically lets not try and mend things that are not really broken and lets try and fix things we can, forget wish lists

I am certainly not advocating the stand being elitist as you put it Ian. It does not have to be simply for season ticket holders and certainly would not mean people could not pay on the day either. You simply buy your ticket on the gate and in you go. Seat waiting and no need to get there 2 hours early simply to bag a "good" seat or row of seats for your mates. But it does allow for a totally full stand for the big games.
Atmosphere comes when the team is doing well. You could have 60 odd thousand fans in a stadium, but if the fayre is p poor then the atmosphere will be to. The match day experience is totally dictated by the quality of the main attraction and for the past 4 years or so it has been poor. Hence a lack of atmosphere apart from the odd game. Sts home (2nd half) this season for example.

I would like to see the end of one thing the magic weekend and have it replaced with an international game, thats one thing for me is that we dont have enough international games.

And FWIW i would hate to see contested scrums come back its one of the main reasons i dont watch union because watching a scrum for 2minitues is just so boring, i think non contested scrums works well so if it aint broke dont fix it.

On the subject of contested scrums: yes they got to the stage of farce but I was officiating at the time of contested scrums and shortly before their demise, we managed to get something like a clean scrum. This came about after we were instructed to clamp down on how and exactly when the scrum was formed. If hookers & scrum halves persistently offended, they were sin-binned.

It ook a little time for coaches and players to get the message but just as we got on top of the problem we were instructed to back off. I have no doubt that was as a result of pressure from Australia, who as has already been pointed out, were pretty dire in the scrummaging stakes.

The reason we have retained scrums is simply as a different method of recycling the ball after a stoppage. By taking 12 players out of the equation, you effectively force teams to find a different play. That wouldn't happen with tap re-starts
