| My son dislocated and fractured his at easter and had to have it wired and was in plaster for 4 weeks. They have said that he may never be able to fully extend his arm again, it's about 10 degrees out now but they hope that will improve with further physio. They said it'd be 3 months until he was back to normal use and it has been. I know you can't compare a (nearly) 7 year old to a professional RL player but I would hope that Hull's physio and rehab are much more intensive than what my son has had.
That kind of injury isn't being injury prone, it's just bad luck pure and simple and could happen to anyone.

It's no shock imo as he is very injury prone over last 3 years. He missed most of saints games in his last two years at saints. That IMO was a major factor in saints not giving him another year because he can still play a bit and still best 7 in super league on his day.
Sad news.'"
I'm not sure why you would think that Long's age or general fitness would have any bearing whatsoever on having his elbow dislocated in an accident during a tackle.

Age? Fitness?
Where do i mention any of them?
Why you getting a bag on? I like longy, he is a saints legend!
Im saying he has had alot of injuries over the last 3yrs which is why saints prob let him go, we was paying him very good money to sit in the stands most weeks when we needed a top class 7 on the pitch.
I find your comments very strange, ive just said longys still the best 7 on his day, i said sad news about him.
I think you should get off your high horse!

| Have to agree anyone of the 26 players on the field last night would have had the same injury if it was them instead of Long.
I understand what people are saying about age and injury but this isn't one of them!

He likes it up there though.
We knew I guess what we were doing when we signed Longy. Think he has been unlucky with this injury though, nothing to do with age or injuryprone ness I guess, just a freak collision.
That said, when you get older, more things break on the body.

Aye...and the healing process is longer
If I be totally honest it really could be a career ending injury this one...gutted and hope I am wrong.

Personally, I never had any top 4 dreams. 5th was always the highest spot that we can achieve for me but you're right that our season is over if Agar cannot find a rabbit from a hat somewhere.

In 2008 he played 23 out of 27 Super League games and in 2009 he played 19.

| Terrible news we're back to where we were before we signed him - no organising halves.
Tansey should have been in the halves anyway with Long in Horne's absence so now he must be. Will put extra pressure on Horney on his return which he could do without but will need to stand up and be counted.
As for the discussion about being injury prone and it being Manu's fault I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this board sometimes.

Never had any such dreams. But you are correct - Washbrook and Horne in the halves is not a Top 4 halfback combo. Well, maybe in the Championship.

| I don't know why some (Saints?) fans are claiming that Longy is injury prone or such like. He is no more or less injury prone than any other player. What Longy has suffered on occasion is horrendous injury, the break to his jaw last season being a classic example of that (and that was his second jaw break - maybe his third, I can't remember - but by far the worst as it knocked the jaw out of position). He is a fearless player and so puts himself in harm's way. It's a real shame he has experienced yet another terrible injury. He's still a Saints legend even if he chose to spend his final two years elsewhere. I hope the elbow isn't as badly injured as first suggested and that he is back playing soon.
