| Quote: downtheante "I've had some time to calm down after his performance against Quins (which was desperate) and am now hoping he will have a good game tonight.
My feeling is that he is not a revolving door like some poor defenders but that he just shows himself up positionally and particularly by rushing out of the line. If he could have one game where he holds his position defensively then we might be praising him instead of hoping that he leaves.
What he has in attack can't be taught - it is natural talent
His tackling even when in position is poor though and he has had plenty of time to improve and he just hasn't. Compare him to Briscoe who has improved this season alone in defence, still not the best under the high ball but improving all the time.
If we could see signs of improvement over the last couple of seasons I think most would be happy to see a contract extension, but the fact is he has not means most will not be bothered if he departs.

So you reckon that Meli would have bagged more tries if Hall had been on the pitch?

Part of the reason Meli scored so many was due to Turner being out of position.

I am still really undecided about Hall, there is no doubt he has natural flair with ball in hand and his defence has improved over the last two years. His biggest problem is the slgihtest thing seems to effect his confidence and his decision making both in defence and attack leaves a lot to be desired. I am starting to doubt that he has the mental toughness as he keeps making the same mistakes over and over.

If the highlights are anything to go by he also scored two from forward passes and one from being offside at the kick.
But that's not the point.
The statement was that things are [ialways[/i worse when Hall plays. Regardless of any other contributory factors.

And this is when he needs the mental toughness when the supporters are getting on his back. Does he walk away for a contract elsewhere or does he knuckle down, finally learn those lessons and prove us all wrong so that he can stay at the club that I believe he personally wants to play for?

That's a fair assessment, Paul, and I share pretty much the same concerns. The point I keep making though is that Hall gets flak for absolutely everything that goes wrong on his side of our defence, whether it's his fault or not.

I think it may have gone to far to be rescued TBH. A large section of fans have decided that he's a poor player and always will be, and history shows that those opinions tend to be difficult to change. You've even got normally sensible posters on here making statements about how he's Championship standard and will never be anything better, when he's had our best tries-per-game ratio in two out of the last three seasons despite playing out of position most of the time.
I think a fresh start somewhere else might be best for him.

| If we can get him cheap then we should keep him imo.
No one can question he has a lot of talent, and I think his defence has improved. However he still takes too many bad options and makes bad reads. This is somewhat expected of a player of his age, but he has been around the first team long enough now for his decision making to have started to improve, and I don't really think it has.

I tend to agree but my heart wants a different outcome.

The Rugby Football League are in the process of reviewing the video that you are referring to. We do not condone behaviour of this nature and have contacted the player’s employer, Hull F.C., who have confirmed that they are dealing with the incident under their club rules.

I don't think agar is fully to blame, if at all.
How's Joe Donkin going? Seems to be getting a good write up for the u20's, could he take Halls full time squad place?
