10603.jpg Is it true that Richard Agar's favorite movie of all time is Groundhog Day or does he just generally like the same boring s**t day after day, season after season?:10603.jpg |

| Quote: gazcoops "Good move by the club imo, The Weir bar has been the Centre of the trouble with the drinking culture at the club, I know some of the players who drank there have left, others are still at the club. I do disagree with them banning them from going to the new years eve party, the club should have let them go on a one off occasion, since they had already paid for tickets.'"
The thing that concens me is that some people seem to hold the venue responsible for some of the poor behaviour rather than the players.
I am all for the club introducing a code of conduct, but for it to be effective, the players need to be on board with it. All the indication suntil this is that the players have been reseptive to the changes made, but could this have a negative effect and see some players start to rebel?
As the main group of players have left the club that were never too far away from bother, it seems a little unfair to ban all the players from a bar, unless something has happened recently.

| A good move by the club.
IMHO there's no problem at all in them out for a drink after the game. It's more the antics of the last couple of years when it seems they were out on the swill all the time and the "incidents" that seemed to occur there.
They are professional sportsmen in the public eye and should conduct themselves as such.

| Seems pretty pointless to me, if certain players want a drink they'll just do it elsewhere.

The club may think that the venue has become associated with being a part of the last 2 years of failure. In an attempt to break the perceived cycle of play e and then go supping in Weir they have banned the place. New start/clean break from the past and all that. Any player who rebels obviously hasn't bought into that thinking and should rebel themselves in the direction of the exit door as soon as contract commitments allow.

Or whenever they feel like it if that's their mindset.
The choice is get paid for a job, or go drinking in Weir. Not really much of a choice is it?

| Correct me if I'm wrong but the club hasn't even confirmed it, I doubt it's just one bar! Hopefully the ban is for all alcohol during pre season.

Drinks in moderation immediately after a match I dont mind but last season there was some very silly instances, two of which I witnessed for myself.
Professional sports persons have relatively short careers and should want to keep their body in its optimum condition shouldnt they, not fill it full of drinks and fags.
Good on the club I say !!!'"
I was in there one evening last season and saw a group of players in the weir 24 hours before a game.A couple of players that i won't name where well oiled. It left me feeling angry and very disappointed but i never reported it.Glad to say the so called players have now moved on.Well done Hull on taking this stance. With better rules and discipline your half way there to having a successful team.

| Arthur Bunting used to call the players up every saturday night to make sure they were home, with a cup of cocoa. I know at least 2 players who got their brothers to answer the phone while they were on the piff. A certain loose-forward was caught out though when he was asked the password. He made one up and was told by Arthur that they didn't HAVE a password.

Cans or bottles? Either way, that's impressive!

Who gives a about the weir bar. I'm more concerned about our club than the weir bars' profits. A good move by the club in order to establish a more professional work ethic.
Can't believe some would complain about the ban, the club just seemed damned if they do and damned if they don't by some on other.
Professional moaners the lot of you.

I don't think anyone is complaining about the club tackling the drinking culture of the past few seasons, or introducing a code of conduct. But I would question if it is a little ott singling out one particular bar and banning everybody from it 24/7.

| I go in the Weir a lot, and as an FC fan have seen the players there after a number of games. If they lose a game by playing badly, the whole team shold be banned that weekend from going out. Win, they can drink where they like that night.
2 of the 'Weir drinking crowd' are still with the club, and were always in after most friday night matches.
The HDM article seems to blame the Weir Bar, and not the players for the drinking culture in there which i fully disagree with. And as for the bar being a place to be seen in, then so what?
