| Quote: wolfie "just been thinking and looking back at some threads from the back end of last season and the preseason, well as everyone knows we have had 2 realy bad years for whatever reasons, wether it been through injuries, visa issues, bad apples, lack of interest from certain players, players not good enough, rich agar been appointed coachill put that as a lot of people have never believed he was the right man for the job and probably still dont, ive given my opinions on him and so have others, wasnt long ago we were all on suicide watch lol and people were talking about not renewing there passes, how things have changed,i remember the brother wasnt a big fan of agar but he has spoke to him on a few occasions now and believes hes grown in stature and that he came across very well at the forum.
well we cant posibly argue with the players agar has released and the players brought in,plus hes brought in a very good assistant coach.
I know a lot of people wasnt fussed with us signing long at the time but everyone is buzzing now it looks like he could become a big fav of the fans and i firmly believe we have now replaced cookie, also with tansey we have replaced briscoe,we have got a great pack with the tongan mafia, and to be honest the backs arent to shabby either,if the players can stay fit and healthy then who knows what could happen.
The buzz that has come from the club in recent weeks is very encouraging to us fans, merchandice at the club has gone through the roof which we have to give lee jenks a lot of credit for, plus 2 great shirts for the new season, season pass sales are booming too,we have had one fans forum which was a sell out and some very encouraging things came out of it,the one in january has sold out aswel, all this proves to me that we will allways stick by our club through the good and the bad times.
Ive been to a sponsors evening at the kc just recently were we got a chance to see the players train plus they all came over to everyones tables during the night and chatted with the fans, ive also noticed just lately with the events that have been going on the players have been great with the fans too, im sure everyone is realy looking forward to the new season as i am,
Lets put the past behind us and think of the future, get behind rich and the lads and cheer them on to great things in 2010.
Great post Wolfie, and entirely agree. It has been a hard times these past two years at Hull, especially on the back off the CC win, Grand Final runners up and losing our scrum half.
But as we all sing, 'IN ANY KIND OF WEATHER', and that's what it is all about. Had it put on my arm, which helped remind myself to keep faithful with the team I love!
Here's to the new season, one which I think is my most anticipated season!
COME ON YOU 'ULLLL!!

I had a few ping-pong battles on his behalf and not a few of those with JtP. To be fair, even he has said his piece and moved on (until you goaded him on in this thread ) saying he was going to wait for the outcome of next season when he wishes he will be proven wrong but expects to be right (I'm paraphrasing, not quoting).
I, for one, fully expect us to do well. I believe many will give Long, Fitz and Moore the credit if Hull shine but I don't think that matters: it's a "coaching staff" and not just one man. If the "team" of coaches makes us stronger then I'm all for that and I expect Agar will be more than happy with others getting the plaudits whilst he signs a contract extension.

That's kind of what I meant - you've said your piece and now watching and waiting.
Anyway, Jake, whichever of us proved wrong, it should be a good season because they'll either do well with Richard Agar at the helm or with someone else.

The point ive been making for months about rich is that certain people have got personal about him which i dont agree with, yes he has deserved to be critisized in certain parts but as im sure many will agree after the forum he realy did have a lot of things to contend with which were totaly out of his control.
He has put things right by getting rid of unwanted baggage, players, coaching staff etc,and also he realised were he needed to change incoming personel,ie players in certain positions and most of all a good assistant coach to help him along,he will only get better by these people along side him,he has got to be given a lot of credit for bringing the youngsters to the club from his neck of the woods,he also deserves credit for the craig hall loan deal with widnes hes come back a much more confident player and as we now all know he should be in the starting line up for next season, also sam moa who wasnt fit when he came so he got put in the reserves to get match fit and he ended the season in great form and earnt himself a new deal to fit in with the tongan mafia lol.
rich has been here for quite a few years now and has worked under some good coaches and has learnt his trade, all he has ever wanted to do is be head coach of hull fc,hes now been given that opportunity, who know it still may be proved that hes not the right guy for the job but lets all get behind him and wish him and the boys the best of luck for 2010
. IF HE CANT DO ANYTHING WITH THIS NEW LOOK SQUAD THEN HE WILL BE OUT ON HIS EAR AS HE WELL KNOWS.
roll on january im buzzing
just need to get jake the peg and standee onside then we have cracked it

| I've been supporting FC since 1990, and i believe this has to be the most anticipated season ever in my mind. I'm itching to rip out my first pass stub and watch the most terrifying pack i've known. Then also so many of the team have something to prove which in my opinion bodes well for us.
2010 THE YEAR THE FC TRAIN STARTS ROLLING................... COME ON YOU HULLLLAAAAA!!!

| Think we'll finish 6th-8th next season,we still need a top coach to finish higher, before anybody starts I have no personal agenda against Agar, seems a nice bloke and comes across really well and knowlaegable about the game, can't seem to pass that onto the players though,do they respect him???,even with that team last year a good coach would of got us into the top eight, time will tell.

Thats the big question mark i have over him as when Kear and Sharp were here they were the bad cop and Agar was the good cop, the transition from Assistant to Head Coach has proved a step too far for him IMO especially the discipline aspect.
The boring percentage rugby last season was unforgivable and most sides when they are missing players tend to go with a play with some freedom instead of the try and contain them mindset, which speaks volumes for the way he approaches the game. The unbalanced squad we have assembled also highlights the way we are going to approach games.

| Talking to the black and white BIL about next season we came to the same conclusion. Rovers will plod along and finish easily in the eight but FC are the team to watch purely for the WTF factor.
With the team they have they could finish top 2 or bottom 3. Will be interesting to watch you go.

Totally sums it up for me. Moving players on and bringing in a few new faces is relatively easy, getting them playing to their potential is a whole different ball game.
Most on here seem to have forgotten how dire we were for most of agar's tenure

Harsh. Sometimes we'd mix it up and put in a cr@p kick early in the tackle count courtesy of Lee or Thorman. That one Thorman hacked dead on the third at Cas was particularly memorable.

| I will give Agar all the support i can. I am so pleased with his cull at the club and the new signings he's made. Whether he's up to the job will be become apparent in 2010. I think Agar is a clever bloke, at the end of the day two of his signings are leaders namely Long and Fitz. Off the field these two will inject professionalism into the other players around them. Long will be working hard with the team on attacking plays, this has taken pressure of Agar as he knows he can trust Long and Co. Dennis Moore has a great RL mind. His input will pay dividends.
Why wasn't Agar sacked in 2009, In my opinion the board knew about the problems he faced, I.E bad apples etc so they stuck by him, they then let Agar do what he needed to do.
I think we will be all happy Airlie Birds in 2010.
