[quote="Wellsy13":1juz9zgo]To us REAL fans, there's no better feeling than winning competitions. Getting to a final is next. Then a top 6 finish or semi-final appearance. Then I suppose the derby counts as the most important league fixture.
Us real fans don't look over our shoulder at our neighbours and do whatever we can to get one over on them. We look at the bigger picture. And this is the reason why Rovers are and will forever be considered a small club. Because their fans and board would rather get one over on Hull FC above anything else.
Quite sad, really! [/quote:1juz9zgo]
SPOT ON!

Yes but is any of Hull? Our City centre is very average and compared to places like Liverpool, Leeds, Brum it's pale in comparison.

guessing you've only ever been to the city centres of these places then. leeds is the of the earth.
but yes hull does look pretty pants next to the rail line, but so does every other area next to a train track because people dont build things near train tracks. the journey along the humber is far more appealing than garforth and cross keys and in 5 years time a large chunk of hessle/ anlaby road is supposed to have been rebuilt

| All cities have their bad areas and good areas. Actually the area around the KC, been in park land is one of the best settings for a stadium in the country IMO. Also Hull does have its merits in the as well including the marina which would have been a great setting for pre-game entertainment. Having lived in 3 of the cities included in the list (I've never lived in Hull), and my job requires me to travel around the country IMO, depsite its bad press Hull is actually not a bad city. Bristol for example makes Hull look like realtive paradise in certain areas, and I include areas like Bramsholme, Orchard Park and such like in that.
I'm disapointted in the decision. I've been working with an architectural firm in London today whom are doing a lot of the regeneration stuff in Hull (most of which will be completed well before the WC in question) and some of the work been done is outstanding. Over the next decade, Hull is set to be one of the most invested cities in the country, the WC would have been a great showcase event for that.

| think hull has missed out due to the other yorkshire bids being selected. geography is probably the reason derby and leics have been rejected too - imo both leicester and derby have just as strong a case as nottingham

| We lost to Sheffield and Leeds SIMPLE get over it
But as I keep saying - one city will not get the funding and as we have a council ready to build 19,000 more seats quickly then I thinkwe have a great chance. £££££££ is in short supply and Dubai can't even tile a pool at the moment.

| Personally, I'm glad Hull didn't get it for selfish reasons. When would they have built the extension? If there are no games to be played 4 weeks before a world cup game where would that leave Hull FC? Don't try to run before you can walk.

| It's a shame hull did'nt get the votes for the host city's i used to live there and still like to visit there nothing wrong with the place obvioulsy the criteria was'nt up to scratch which is a shame but i stand by a comment i made on the thread about the kc at the weekend and hull. I belive that the infurstructure just is'nt in place and wont be available on time, if in fact we get the world cup. So when a certain member who has friend's at fifa and the fa who got the anouncement day wrong along with the actuall facts, turn's up the mush between my ears isnt quite as full of crap as your's !!!! Think before you slate someone with an opinion

| Quote: Matty_HullFC "Crime rates is just a part of it. The facts are Hull is located badly, has a small football ground, has no footballing tradition at all and is regarded as one of the worst cities in the UK.'"
Hull is located perfectly for this one with the ports and airports close by. The stadium is currently much healthier than many other stadiums selected and would have been perfect after the increase.
Regarding the 'worst city' tag theres an issue here about how statistics are measured and its an absolute disgrace that the Government are allowing us to get slated time after time when if they were measured the same way as other areas it would show us to be in much better shape than many other areas.
We are the City that gets forgotten and that is good about is what we have delivered ourselves. Its about time we were given a bit of a break and the people who lived here woke up and started to become as proud of their area as the Geordies and Scousers are of theirs.

whatever outlay any venue has it will recieve more than double back in tourism etc. I'll be amazed if any venue selected actually drops out.

Yes but the tourism ££ goes into the pockets of Plcs and local businesses , none of which will have actually borrowed the ££ and making repayments to the debt

| Think it's more along the lines of local buisness tourism the extra influx of the pound over the till's ect ect rather than the amount the venue stadium or clubs will make

| As a football fan it's disappointing but as an FC fan I think it's good news. I don't want to see the KC made bigger, it would do nothing for the atmosphere at our games and it will also mean our fixtures don't get messed about with during the world cup.
