my point exactly, many who were decent footie coaches but not one of them had any experience in dealing with kids with personal issues!!

with the increase in cash these days there maybe should be a place for some sort of personal non football manager in clubs today, one who can life coach and help where needed because the coaches on the footie side neither have time or interest in personal stuff
PK was GB material all the way when younger but the GB brass knew he had issues thats why he never got a run

PK is the fault of PK, plenty of other players handle themselves much better, but I do take your point. What also doesn't help is the low standards that many RL fans will accept from players in their social life.

your not wrong, my youngest was always a massive fan of PK , I had to lie when I told him he was leaving and said it was because his contract expeired and he isnt allowed to resign, simply to protect him from the truth .
My son holds these guys very very high indeed , they should all realise that is the case generally and act accordingly in public!!

Social responsibility has never been high on the agenda for RL players, some (like Swain and Kearney) are born ambassadors, other (like Cooke and King) are examples of what you shouldn't be doing with your private life.

There will, alas, be similar issues with players in coming years, we're culturally bankrupt in a lot of cases, drink has become deified, being drunk is on a pedestal, and it's all "a bit of a laugh"

not in my house it isnt, we have a social life also were not prudes by any means but drunken behaviour is not high on my agenda of acceptable activities and my family will i hope follow suit, there is drinking and then there is what many of these players call acceptable.
I am for one glad this drinking culture is broken at FC

I'd go along with that. I was never his biggest of fans and he may come to regret in later life some of the decision he made over the past few years, but the character assasinations on here are way ott imho.

People are simply speaking the truth, nobody is assasinating anyone's character.

A few people suggesting that Kingy liked a drink and a smoke a bit too much during his career is hardly character assassination, is it? It's not even controversial.

Hope he gets a chance at another club just for him to show he can knuckle down and do the work. He has shown he can do it but the last couple of seasons he has been more of a one big hit wonder during games.

Yes we all like to see a big hit but i would much rather a consistent defensive effort that the occasional big hit from a player and i reckon most coaches would want the same or a consistent defender who throws in the occasional big hit

Not going to berate him, he made his choices and he will live with them.

Hey they let me out all the time especially to watch FC, THATS why I dont like paying my money to guys I know were drunk the night before...
typical statement of folk who dont have kids whom use these sports stars as their heros to look up to..
