My daughter - Who supports Hull as much as any-one - Has unearthed a cracking little Jack Russell - he is 11 weeks old - he snaps a little - does'nt need grooming - but is areal live-wire

Mel Harman with all due respect does a great job in persuading young guys to get on board with Hull - and I am sure he does it for nothing (or peanuts) but he has been doing it for at least the last 25 years (approx) - How many Hull super stars have we produced in that time - My question is is he picking the right ones - have to many gone under the radar - OPINIONS please - The question is 'Hull dont think I am good enough so I am jacking it in'.

Well apart from david Hodgson i can't really think off anyone else who slipped the net, Mel does a fantastic job and puts so many hours in watching these youngsters he deserves a lot of credit
Hornes,Cooke,King,Houghton,Hall,Lee, etc all been spotted by mel so hasn't done too bad imo

I did not mean any disrespect to Mel - I know him well - but I think a lot have been lost because they did not play for Hull Schools etc - The East Riding is quite big you know - Cott Tigers - Beverley Panthers etc dont get a look in

| Is the Hull schools still on the go?
At my kid's school they only play in one schools tournament every year.

I dont know - My point is Hull and East Riding is a pretty big area and the East Riding part has been totally overlooked over the years - Not many since Brian Hancock - Mick Kendall - Not the greatest but real stalwarts-
By the way Brother some of the ones you quoted are on the list of those on this forum who would have booted out - Look at the names you mention.
I said in my original post 'No Superstars' found by Mel - Lots of Barry Basics in my opinion - 'Richard Horne = Graham Horne'

| I'd be more inclined to blame the coaching system that bring the kids on and develops them once they're in the system rather than the person who spots them and puts them into the system. Does anyone seriously think that any RL prospects in the area are playing under the radar of the 2 local clubs? W Yorks and even Lancs clubs also keep an eye on talent in the area

I go back to my original point
7s - Lee Williams 50/50
I don't include Jordan Lee for obvious reasons
In the U16-U19s - that is 4 years of squads - where are the stand out 7s in East Yorks ?

We have signed a sensational 6 and 13 from Normanton Knights at 15's who had the pick of the SL to sign for. I know i have sort of hype up that age group alot as its the age group i coach in however the foundation side FC have assembled at that age has some really special talents and only Warrington will get anywhere near them.

Lets be honest how many exceptional 7's has GB produced over the last ten years? Long and Burrow, thats about it.
It's not just Hull, it's all the other clubs, thats why everyone is going nuts about Myler and Tomkins.

That's my point - IF we cannot produce a stand out 7 in 4 years worth of Youth RL then where are we going wrong ?
What about a stand out winger as well ?
Have we really got the right youth set up ?
At age 14 they meet once a fortnight , I think , for ball work and diet sheets. Is Steve Crooks the right man ?
We should have 2-3 players out of every year that could play SL at 19 years old when injuries affect us.

| Who are the people involved in Hull FC U12s to U17s ?
Are they local blokes ?
Do they all subscribe to 5 drives and a kick ?
Do we really have the right programme for our 12 to 15 year olds ala Man Utd . At 12 years old we have our lads once a fortnight , I believe , and do some stretches and and ball work.
Shouldn't we be having our 12 year olds 3x a week and camps away.

As he said a few posts up, Hollywood Frasier coaches a side, and that side is in Beverley and as far as I know, Hull have signed up some players of his. I'll let him tell you how many because I dont know the exact number
Plus what about the likes of Kirk Dixon and James Greene, who signed from Ionians who arent based in Hull
