I clapped the effort, you cant argue with that. I was pleased how the crowd got behind Thorman too. We're not a bad lot you know icon_biggrin.gif

The players deserved applause ,they worked hard against a team that was out classing them all over the pitch (i.m.o.)

Saints fans don`t know how lucky they are.

Over the years i've lost count of how many time people have said " You dont mind getting beat as long as the team puts the effort in."Well thats what I applauded.

Didnt stay and clap, but thought the effort was much better tonight, IMO we would have beaten most teams tonight if we played like that, we would also have 2/3 more games if we played like that.

The scoreline flattered Saints slighly, had our try not been disallowed and had Calderwood taken Whitings pass it would have been much closer.

We need to cut down stupd errors, Dowes dropped ball in the 38th minute on the last tackle and Tony not taking the bomb, these cost us two trys and put the game out of our reach.

I thought we matched there pack, but they had too much class for us when they got near our line, there passing speed is fantasic, hopfully having long will quicken us up as his distibution was excellent.

Still along way to go, but I saw positive signs last night.

Must win our next two games.

Watching the teams approaches was funny. We have been quoted as saying we play 3 props from the start to copy saints, but then watching saints throw the ball the full width of the pitch to stretch us i really wonder what saints team it is we are trying to copy? Maybe Northampton RU?

Excellent summary. Thought we were pretty good for the first 37 minutes in a game we were never realistically going to win. Mistakes put the game well and truly beyond us. The interchanges were just unfathomable though. Burnett should have been spelled, King looked lively but played about 20 minutes. We really need to get a grip of this - in closer games it makes a huge difference.

Why were we never realistically going to win?

If we threw the ball about better and actually use our centres and wingers we could have competed far better.

I'm not a fan of applauding a gutless, heads down performance with little effort. I don't think that was the case last night. The lads put in a shift, the score flattered Saints to some extent and there was no lack of effort. There was a lack of quality, something Saints have in spades. The lads were fully deserving of their round of applause IMO.

I think the applause came because we showed up better than we did at Leeds, we challenged for 50-60 minutes.

Saints played some spectacular rugby a joy to watch.

We observed Long who is the master in his role and will wear our shirt next season

Thorman played a lot better which is all we ask..

Because maybe we realise booing will not resolve anything.

Quote: Big Dave T "Why were we never realistically going to win?'"

Saints are better than us man for man in virtually every one of the 17 named players. They have a very good coach and are top of the table, looking a good shout for the double. We've lost far more home games than we've won this season, much the same as last year. And then, in the game itself, I don't believe Saints ever needed to get out of second gear. We had a good go at it and the effort was there but we don't have the personnel to turn them over.

Quote: Big Dave T "If we threw the ball about better and actually use our centres and wingers we could have competed far better.'"

Correct, if we'd not made stupid errors at key moments also we would have competed far better. We made it easy for Saints, but IMO even if we'd executed a decent gameplan with appropriate interchanges they still have too much for us.

Theyre the best team in the league i agree, but personally i still feel if we had played to a better gameplan we could have beaten them, we were at home too which often helps. I cant help thinking back to our first few seasons at the KC when we dished out a hammering to excellent Saints teams everytime they came. We just have no creativity and no gameplan now, but i still think we could have won.

Fair point..
For the first time in a few years I felt very very despondent, I was just waiting for the hooter, yes I am looking forward to next season however what about this season what did I pay £200 for ?

I am actually concerned we will not even make the play-offs at this rate..no doubt some good news will come out of the club this week, nice smoke screen.
