| Pretty gutted. Didn't think I'd be saying that 12 months ago.
Was outstanding in those cup winning seasons.
When Watts left he carried us for the few seasons after, then had that horror foot injury.
Got himself fit this season and has been good for us. A big hole to fill.

| Didn't see that one coming, disappointed as his form this season merited a contract.
I wonder if he retired himself or wasn't offered another deal.
Been a fantastic signing and made a significant contribution to the back to back cup wins.

As pivotal as he was to the back to back Wembley triumphs, he was an absolute warrior in 2018, carried the pack single handed. He leaves as one of the immortals.

| Tony Smith said his possible contract offer was dependent on other signings so there must be other signings coming soon.

| He will always be a 2016 legend. That image of him with sheer joy on his face next to Ellis lifting the Cup encapsulated his love for the club.
Thanks Tag and best wishes for the future.

Great post. He could hardly contain himself. Said it all.
Who’d have thought I’d have felt this gutted with the news this time last year.
Carried our pack for a few seasons to his detriment but he never shirked it.

| No surprise to me he has decided to retire. I was told at the beginning of the season he was struggling with a foot injury, which he has kept under wraps and managed to play through so probably the only sensible decision he could have made.

| What a great few years he has had with our club and how Wembley meant even more to him, Danny H, Jamie Shaul etc than it did to the rest of the squads, if it meant so much to the the imports etc then for all the local boys made good it was simple awesome. He never stopped talking about it for months afterwards. He had a tough journey from Wigan to us with a year on loan at Salford, as a rather petulant Wigan made him play his last year with the Red Devils even though he had tried to get released after 2 years of his contract. All the while with his Dad saying all year, he'll be back at FC next season never fear and thankfully he got home eventually. That picture of him at Wembley holding up the 'What you gonna sing now Hull KR' placard beaming from ear to ear, will live forever with me.
He cared for the fan base too (as he was one of them) and when I launched the two books in support of both Kirk and Danny's Testimonial, who was first to turn up on the night and who stayed all night talking to the fans? He's been carrying a foot injury all season, but has had a brilliant final hurrah! As Mrs B so rightly says he has been an absolute Warrior through some really difficult times. Great that he's staying at the Club, he's obviously impressed Smithy with his love of it. But thanks for some great memories Tag' your one of the 16/17 conquering Hero's who will be remembered forever by a whole generation of FC fans.

| He had some fantastic seasons in the mid 10s for both us and Wigan and fully deserved his England call up.
But a couple of poor seasons stops him from being an all time legend in my book. In 2019-2021 we needed the experienced players like him to lift the team and they failed.
This hear has been better and id have liked him to go round 1 more time but I understand his reasons.

Unfair IMHO; as others have mentioned, he pretty much carried our pack after Watts’ departure, and paid the price in injuries as a result, meaning he seemed fundamentally broken for some time.
At the beginning of this season I believed it should be his last purely for that reason, although he has managed to put it back together and as a result exit from playing on a comparative high, with many of us saying he deserves another year.
The fact he doesn’t want to do that suggests that he knows it’s time, and I’m happy for Scott Taylor that it ends with him clearly contributing at SL level, rather than at the end of an injury-ravaged spell.

| His last game against Leeds. I expect him to leave it all out there and monster them. If his body holds up of course.
