| Difficult this one, the best one for me would be Sterlo. But was he here long enough to be considered a great?

| Got to be Peter Sterling. Knocker will always be my all time favourite player but Sterlo was one of the very few World greats to play for us

| I'm struggling with this one. Sterling is obviously the best I've seen but 34 games over a season and a half doesn't win any long service awards. Typically for Hull's history with half backs its hard to find anyone with the combination of brilliance where they are recognised as among the best of their contemporaries (eg winning representative honours) and having a substantial number of appearances for Hull. Both Dean and Harkin for example didn't make 100 appearances for Hull, or get rep honours for that matter.

| Aside from Sterling whom I think is the stand out talent wise by far we've being a bit sp for top top scrums halves.
Billy Anderson 216 games, 16 tries.
At only 5ft 6 and 11 stone he was considered to be a hard, wily bundle of energy, your typical 'old fashioned' scrum half.
Took us to 4, yes that's right 4 CC finals, 1907/08, 08/09, 09/10 (all losing) and then finally winning the big one in 1913/14. Missed out on rep honours despite shining in the trials for the 1910 tour down under. Playing 6 seasons over two stints with us & a couple of seasons at Batly he had just one game after the war.
Eddie Caswell, 401 app, 98 tries, 5 goals. One of the very few in the '400' club. Formed a great partnership with Stan Whittey in the 20s as well as playing off half for a fair few of his games.
he was another robust, speedy and crafty half that helped the great 2nd rower Bob Taylor to run in plenty of his tries as well as amass almost a century for himself. Missed out on international duty due to the likes of the great Jonty Parkin but rep'd for Wales 3 times. Won the championship in 20/21, Yorkshire Cup in 23/24 along with 2 CC final losses and 2 yorks cup final losses.
Tommy Finn, 375 apps, 132 tries, 1 goal. Originally spending 4 seasons at St.Helens with only 8 appearances his 11 seasons co-incided with one of Hull's greatest ever periods from the mid 50s to the mid 60s. Though not considered a 'great' he formed a brilliant partnership with JW and worked his magic especially down the blind side and ensured our 'Panzer' pack did its job. A prolific try scorer & brilliant support player scored the vital winning try in the 1956 championship final at Maine Rd and our only try in the defeat by Wigan in the '59 CC final. No rep honours but won 2 Championship medals and 1 losers, 2 losing CC medals and 2 losing Yorkshire cup medals
Honourable mentions to Chris Davidson and Kenny Foulkes, two top club men.

Preceding Tommy Finn was one of the best ankle tacklers I have ever seen play the game - Albert Tripp. Hardly anyone escaped his faultless technique and he played from the early fifties until the mid-fifties.

I first saw Sterling here in Aus in the 70's playing in televised schoolboy football where his obvious talent was on display leading to his stellar career at Paramatta and the subsequent International honours. Came over in 1985 for the Cup Final to see him play for Hull and noted how idolised he was by the Hull supporters. It is no surprise that he is seen by many as the best scrum half to play for Hull. With his limited games for Hull though, should he be part of the greatest team of the past 150 years?

He played for us therefore he should be considered because for me ge was the best. Showed my lad a video(yes that's right a video) of him and he couldn't believe just how good he was. I'd want to mention Dean as well. A real competitor . Estat also gave his best for us but for me right on top of the pile was Sterling. You hear him on Channel nine and he still has affection for the club.
