Although I wouldn't go as far as saying exciting, I do agree that he was a good player at Leeds. I say it all the time, that players who sign for Wigan generally have a hard time of reaching the standard they did at their previous club(s) and that when they leave, they should be given some time. However, the problem with Mathers is the fact he is a cowardly little sh*t who gives away too many penalties nowadays. He would be nearly as bad a signing as Cockayne

I never did. He had pace and reasonably good hands, but his defence was never better than average. He was also a dirty player and fond of the cheap shot.

The players around him made him look better than he was and I was quite surprised when he went to the NRL.
