I’m hoping we are waiting for the investment to be sorted to allow us make a couple of good signings.

As for how much the investment actually is, no figures have ever been mentioned but Pearson really played it down and made it clear we still want and need to be self sufficient if the investment happens. The talk of someone pumping in millions or whatever on social media will be way wide of the mark in my opinion.

If I really had to make a really uneducated guess about how much ‘investment’ mens you’d imagine it would at least have to be a few hundred thousand. That would be enough to help bring in the type of marquee player we haven’t been able to afford in recent years (Pearson mentioned the investment would be used for this purpose) and would likely what’s needed for someone to buy a major stake in the club and thus allow a family member to get a good foot in the door in a new career.

The NRL merry-go-round is in progress. I don't think we will see any new overseas signings until that settles down.

As for bringing in a prop, this season is done. Chan, Laidlaw and Gardiner can fill in. Armstrong will come in at some point too. Might as well save our pennies.

A part of me wants to get excited about this article but I must remember to stay grounded and not take anything the man says as gospel.

To be honest what’s he said in that interview that isn’t going to be gospel? All he says is that we are trying to sign a couple of good players (who sets out to sign bad players anyways) from the NRL to fill our quota spots and he’s trying to attract some outside investment into the club. I’d expect that’s always been the case for years.

so we have a couple of marquee players and will probably have a couple of marquee players?

Hopefully these other 2 signings they are looking at are good but presume that means okunbor and sao probably be staying

Cade Cust what are Hull doing. Surely even the most hardened supporters must be so disappointed with the recruitment so far. This screams desperation

Compared to Ed Chamberlain and zak hardaker, cust is a monumentally good signing

Up to now it’s kind of recruitment and kind of players that a newly promoted side would generally make. We’ll be lucky to end the season with 6-8 points so we are effectively a championship standard side at the moment. It’s the reality of our financial situation as a club and the playing squad we currently have. You have to start somewhere and build our way back. Compare to Wakefield who have a backer pumping money in they’ve signed a couple of top quality players but still think they’ll have to bulk up their squad with a few more steady SL players like we’ve signed.

Unfortunately Cust hasn't been effective since he picked up an injury in the 2022 CC final. Hoped he would pick up his form at Salford but still looks off the pace.
